Do You Even Care That Its Black History Month?

Well we are back again for yet another Monday random blog. Today I was gonna write about Valentines Day since its this week but I kinda did that last year and my views are pretty much the same on that so figured would tackle something new. For our Valentines Day post feel free to click this link if you are a new viewer or haven't seen it already. Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated annually in the United States and Canada in February and the United Kingdom in October. Even though its primarily celebrated in these countries Black People celebrate and recognize the month of February all across the world. Granted I don't live in the aforementioned countries but I can't help but wonder; do you even care that its black history month?

The weeks leading into Black History month were rife with controversy from the circulation of the above picture. Now I can't imagine this being a good idea but i'm sure the person that did this knew this would happen and spur publicity for the party. Its no stretch of the imagine to figure that historic black figures would be disappointed with how we as a people have grown over time. Popular satirical cartoon series The Boondocks made mention of a similar situation and the overall development of our people and all they fought for. Seems only right I let y'all watch that...

After watching that do you think that is an accurate justification of our current societal views on ourselves as a people? I'm not really sure what I as an individual can do or say to appeal to my fellow black people but as a nerd and denizen of the Internet I figure this small gesture might be of some consequence to someone. Every year Black History Month sparks an annual debate about the continued usefulness and fairness of a designated month dedicated to the history of one race. Many people hold concerns about black history being delegated to a single month and the "hero worship" of some of the historical figures often recognized. Do you think we deserve a month? Is that enough? One person suggested we should be exempted from paying all taxes; personally I like that last idea a lot.

Movie Club Night: Redemption

Grab a chair start reading through cause we have quite the the movie tonight. Recently released starring one of my all time favorite actors Jason Muthafucking Statham. Last week we checked out The Colony and boy oh boy was it an exciting movie so we are going to keep the action packed vibe going this week with The Redemption aka 'Hummingbird'. The Colony definitely had its action packed moments but I was pretty pissed at what happened with Morpheus; yes i'm calling him Morpheus cause I want to. I know his name is Laurence Fishburne but he will always and forever be known as Morpheus. All in all i give The Colony a 7.5 as my final score cause I certainly enjoyed it more than Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. With that being said lets check out the trailer for Redemption...

Homeless and on the run from a military court martial, a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London's criminal underworld seizes an opportunity to assume another man's identity -- transforming into an avenging angel in the process. Currently as of posting this blog the movie has a 6.2 rating on IMDB so as always should be interesting to see what rating we the Movie Club here on Zalgo Cometh end up giving it. This will potentially be the final Movie Club blog post as we did it for the month of July. Was hoping to get more buzz and feedback in the comments section but nothing ventured nothing gained. I'll still occasionally throw out a Movie Club post here and there but I do believe I will be going back to the random Monday blog post that we are used to doing. Movie Club Night: White House Down

Here we go with the second installment of Monday Night Movie Club here on In The Mind Of My Mind for the month of July. Last week we watched Olympus Has Fallen in preparation for this weeks movie White House Down as many people claim both movies are very similar but somehow White House Down was the better of the two. So tonight we will watch White House Down and hopefully get some feedback from you our fans on both movies and which you prefer. Going forward after this weeks Monday Night Movie Club I will give my rating of the movie watched the previous week. Anywhore today's movie will be available for download as usual and i'm really crossing my fingers hoping there are no technical difficulties and everyone can access it fine and no trouble comes from this. Ideally we will do a mix of new recent movies as well as old movies here and there to review and offer opinions on. Feel free to also try Netflix as they are a premiere service for accessing movies on a whole. Also on a side note EVO was this past weekend in Las Vegas and I usually do a wrap up blog but Kotaku actually did a pretty decent post on it this time around so I will just link it here.

Capitol Policeman John Cale has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country. The movie as of writing this currently holds a 6.3/10 score on IMDb so lets see if that is a correct grading for the movie. Drama Seems To Be The Order Of The Day

ITS MONDAY!!!!!

So welcome back for another blog post. How have you all been? Did you miss me? I missed me; I miss me a lot. I think i'm starting to forget the me that I think that I thought that I thought I was once. Anywhore I really don't have a topic I want to talk about; was contemplating talking about the whole Mr. Vegas and his ex-girlfriend situation but honestly I feel like its really not that important and I don't want to contribute to all the hype. However since I don't have a main topic at hand I will just post this here for your listening pleasure to hear the woman's side of the story from her sister and herself since Mr. Vegas's side is pretty much public knowledge. Yes I know i'm a dirty dirty hypocrite but I rather do that than not have a blog post for you all...^_^

So basically that's my reaction after both of those articles.

Both parties involved are wrong either way but I think Vegas kinda has blown the situation out of proportion. Yeah she wrong for doing what she did in his house but he ain't the first dude to get cheated on. Plus it ain't look good that he supposedly well know to be a cheater himself so its like karma has come full circle. Always sucks when misunderstandings happen and people fail to communicate effectively but oh well, people are choosing their sides and anxiously waiting to see if that sex tape comes to light. until such time I will be here playing video games as always.
