What's good doods and doodettes? Welcome to another video game review here on In The Mind Of Mind. We ran into a bit of problems with recording this weeks game-play with commentary videos for our YouTube channel so sadly the commentary aspect is missing but its still up and waiting if you are interested in seeing the game in action. With that being said let jump right into the world of Neo-Paris in this weeks video game review of "Remember Me".

Remember Me is an action-adventure and beat 'em up video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom. It was released in June 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Remember Me features platforming, exploration and melee combat. The game introduces the mechanic of 'memory remixing': entering and rearranging a target's memories to manipulate them. Players accomplish this by replaying a memory and modifying details to change the target's recollection of the outcome. Another key mechanic of game-play is stealing memories from specific targets and using points called Remembranes to replay the memory in real-time: this is often needed to proceed through the game or avoid hazards otherwise hidden from the player. In terms of combat, the game will allow players to create and customize their own move combos in the Combo Lab, which uses four families of fighting moves called Pressens that players can reorganize by creating chains, earned through gaining PMP (Procedural Mastering Power), with a limit of four combos being active at any one time. The four Pressen families are "Regen" (healing), "Power" (damage), "Chain" (duplication and doubling of previous moves) and "Cooldown" (regeneration of S-Pressen energy). The game's creative director, Jean-Max Morris has said that there are 50,000 possible Pressen combinations.

What’s Good:
Storyline - Wonderfully engaging plot and keeps you interested and caring about the main character Nilin. A cast full of memorable characters help tell the story of Nilin.

What’s Bad:
Game Mechanics - The fighting engine is clunky and fight animations don't always mesh together seamlessly. Couple that with a customization combo system that has limits on the allotment of X & Y buttons to specific parts in the combo chain and you have a recipe for hand-holding that does nothing but upset the player.

Soundtrack - Never really cared much for any of the music played throughout the game. Didn't really affect much of the conveyance of the story of progression of the levels.

What Should Have Been Added:
I definitely feel that there should have been more instances of remixed memories as well as maybe having different possibilities of endings graded on a certain scale which gives a better ending to the memory and rewards the player accordingly. Also restricting the player to using a maximum number of remixed portions so that the player can't just randomly search for all the remixed areas and utilize them.

Final Thoughts:
Overall the game had great potential but sort of feel a bit flat on its face. Still an enjoyable gaming experience but with the expected hype and premise of this game it really should have done a lot better. Well that's all from me, so until next time; keep on gaming...

Double The Pleasure; Double The Fun..

Hey y'all; your friendly neighborhood gamer here. Sad to say that I almost didn't write up a review this week because work has seriously been kicking my ass and I didn't feel comfortable writing up a half-assed review for a game I didn't really play. So Instead of not giving you all anything I figured it would be better to at least give you something and write up a review for a game I played but didn't write a review for yet. This game is currently available on Xbox 360 (XBLA) and PlayStation 3 (PSN); it is free for Playstation Plus members and XBOX Live Gold Members. I present to you Double Dragon Neon...

Double Dragon Neon is a video game in the Double Dragon series of beat 'em up games. It was developed by WayForward Technologies and published by Majesco Entertainment, and is intended as a reboot of the Double Dragon series. As with previous installments of the series, the player takes control of martial artists Billy Lee (Player 1) and Jimmy Lee (Player 2) in their fight to rescue Marian from the Shadow Warriors gang, this time led by the super-lich Skullmageddon. In addition to the standard punch, kick, and jump buttons and a designated run button, the player now has a evade button for dodging attacks. If the player times their evasion right so as to perfectly dodge an enemy attack, they will "Gleam" by briefly glowing red, during which time their attacks will be more powerful.

What's Good:
The soundtrack for this game is really good. While playing this with my friend David  we actually found ourselves enjoying the soundtrack itself a lot. The fun factor of this game is insane from doing forbidden techniques to double teaming enemies for long combos  its just all around fun. The inclusion of items to power-up and change your character as you play adds an element of RPG character customization. There are two types of collectible items in the game which play a huge part in how you will approach the game. One to grant the brothers a powerful attack that consumes a separate energy meter, and one to alter their statistics and grant special effects. By collecting multiple copies of a tape, its effect gradually increases until it reaches a maximum capacity. You can effectively mold your character into a healer type of fighter that absorbs health points with ever successive hit or you can make an all out strength based character that does crazy damage. This helps add a layer of diversity and versatility to the game.

What's Bad:
This game is unforgiving; as such you may very easily find yourself dying a lot. It has multiple difficulty levels but honestly even on normal me and my friend David had a hard time on some of the levels. Not to mention after we beat the game we tried it on hard and couldn't properly get past level one.

What Should Have Been Added:
After playing through the game I kind of wish there was an option to play as some of the other notable characters in the game. Would be so cool to do a play through as Skullmageddon. I swear that he became my favorite character after playing through the game almost wanted to let him get to lay the pipe on Marian.

Final Thoughts:
Well with all that said its a no brainer to get this game for free if you are a PSN Plus Member or XBOX Live Gold Member. Be sure you play it with a friend cause many good times are there to be had. Also if I were you I would stick around after the ending credits of the game for a nice plot twist surprise so to speak. Game-play with commentary provided by Maximilian.

Not Even Anger Management Can Help This Guy

Finally I get my hands on this game. had it for a while now but just couldn't get any time to sit down and have at it the way i wanted to. Thankfully good things comes to those who wait and by golly was it certainly worth the wait. Asura's Wrath is everything I could have hoped for in a single player experience; not to mention this is added to even more with bonus DLC that was released. So lets take a look at Asura's Wrath...

Asura's Wrath is an action video game collaboration between CyberConnect2 and Capcom that was first announced at the Tokyo Game Show in 2010. According to the game's producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, "Asura's Wrath takes elements from Hinduism and Buddhism and blends them with science fiction. In the game, Asura is a demigod fighting to reclaim his daughter from the deities who kidnapped her and banished him from the mortal world." The main character is based on the ever combative and superiority-seeking beings of the same name that are part of the Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. The game was received positively by the Japanese gaming public but received mixed review from the American gaming demographic.

The game-play of Asura's Wrath is a combination of multiple genres, while overall is presented in the style of an episodic anime series. The game-play throughout shifts between a third person action and a rail shooter game. The game also requires the player's direct input during cinematic events in the form of interactive cut-scenes with various quick-time event and context sensitive button prompts. In all forms of game-play however, player progress is determined by two gauges represented at the top of the screen, the life and burst gauge.

Whats Good:
OMFG!!! Epic storyling, awesome button mashing fighting, quick time events galore, DLC bonus content to keep you coming back for more. From start to finish I feel so immersed and connected to the game's development that I looked eagerly forward to each chapter as I played through the game. The QTE's (quick time events) are really random and keep you on alert for them as you never really know when one might come up. The voice acting and original soundtrack are very fitting and well executed and really help to bring across the entertainment value of the game.

Whats Bad:
The counter system in the game needs to be more refined. At times playing the game it seemed a bit inconsistent and haphazard a mechanic where sometimes I would get prompted to press a button to counter and other times nothing would happen. Another issue is that maybe the game could have been a little longer, but then again that's how I feel about any good story driven game I really get into. There is no in game notification as to goal completion; by this i mean the awards given at the completion of a level are not clearly stated so that you can know how you are doing beforehand. I found this very frustration thinking that I was doing well only to discover after finishing the level that I didn't receive a good score.

What Should Have Been Added:
I would have liked to seen the other deities in the game as unlockable characters that I could play through the game with. Going through the game and fighting against them at times made me want to use them and I think that would have added an additional layer of replay value to the game.
