Movie Club Night: Redemption

0 comments click here

Grab a chair start reading through cause we have quite the the movie tonight. Recently released starring one of my all time favorite actors Jason Muthafucking Statham. Last week we checked out The Colony and boy oh boy was it an exciting movie so we are going to keep the action packed vibe going this week with The Redemption aka 'Hummingbird'. The Colony definitely had its action packed moments but I was pretty pissed at what happened with Morpheus; yes i'm calling him Morpheus cause I want to. I know his name is Laurence Fishburne but he will always and forever be known as Morpheus. All in all i give The Colony a 7.5 as my final score cause I certainly enjoyed it more than Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. With that being said lets check out the trailer for Redemption...

Homeless and on the run from a military court martial, a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London's criminal underworld seizes an opportunity to assume another man's identity -- transforming into an avenging angel in the process. Currently as of posting this blog the movie has a 6.2 rating on IMDB so as always should be interesting to see what rating we the Movie Club here on Zalgo Cometh end up giving it. This will potentially be the final Movie Club blog post as we did it for the month of July. Was hoping to get more buzz and feedback in the comments section but nothing ventured nothing gained. I'll still occasionally throw out a Movie Club post here and there but I do believe I will be going back to the random Monday blog post that we are used to doing. Thank you for your participation those who did and hope you enjoyed the movies. Click the following link to download a copy of the movie at your leisure and check it out. Be sure to come back here and drop a few words in the comment section below with your thoughts on the movie and how much you would score it based on the acting quality, story-line, cinematics and actors.

Have You Answered The Call?

Gameplay - 9/10
Storyline - 10/10
Graphics - 10/10
Game Score : 29/30

Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game grossed $500 million, beating 2011's Modern Warfare 3 to become the biggest entertainment launch of all time. 500 Million In twenty four hours. I know I shouldn't be surprised but the damn game sold worldwide and made five hundred million in its first twenty four hours of existence; that's insane. In these coming weeks many women will lose access to their boyfriends and a few boyfriends will lost access to their girlfriend (didn't forget about you gamer girls out there). So one and all lets take a look at the newest addition to the Call Of Duty family.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision (Square Enix for Japan). Black Ops II is the ninth game in the Call of Duty franchise of video games and a sequel to the 2010 game Call of Duty: Black Ops. Black Ops II is the first game in the Call of Duty franchise to feature future warfare technology and the first to present branching story-lines driven by player choice. It also offers a 3D display option. A corresponding game, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, will be released simultaneously on the PlayStation Vita. The single-player campaign features two connected story-lines, with one set in the 1970s through 1980s and the other in 2025.

Whats Good:
Every damn thing. The weapon choices, the story-line, the zombies mode, the multi-player, the stellar game graphics, the list goes on and on. I don't even really have to really write much for this review cause the game overall is solid and well rounded and they managed to not fall into the typical trend that they regurgitate the same game every year. This is truly an entity onto its own and I am glad to see Treyarch take the time to expand more on the single player aspect of the game and not just the multi-player portion. The story-line of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has several endings, depending on which conditions the player fulfills over the course of the game. How freaking awesome is that??

Whats Bad:
One word; Strike Force missions. Ok so maybe that was three words but honestly this is the only thing I have a problem with in the game. The success or failure of these missions can have ramifications for the wider campaign story-line. Choosing one of the missions locks out the others unless the player begins a fresh campaign. Strike Force missions allow the player to control a number of different war assets, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, jet fighters and robots. If the player dies in a Strike Force mission, the campaign continues recording that loss, as opposed to letting the player load a previously saved checkpoint. The player's progress in the Strike Force missions may go on to change even the plans of the story's antagonist, Raul Menendez. Genius idea but small problem; whenever you place computer AI in a game to aid the player 8/10 times the AI will fail the player. This trend proves ever true as most times playing these missions I had to do majority of the work to ensure I passed and just could not have a lot of faith in the AI to do as told.

What Should Have Been Added:
Every year its the one thing that is missing from the game; granted I know why its not in the game I still want it goddammit. LAN play; yes I know the game always gets pirated and that's primarily the reason why they took it out and made the game with dedicated servers but it would make so much of a worthwhile addition to the game.

Final Thoughts:
The game is good, fan of the series or not its a well rounded experience that anyone who plays FPS games can enjoy. Feel free to check out our single-player walk-through and for posterity I will post a bit of multi-player action from a fellow friend you-tuber of mine.

Lines Were Meant To Be Crossed

Gameplay - 8/10
Storyline - 10/10
Graphics - 9/10
Game Score : 27/30

Ok peoples so slight change in plans; turns out I gotta go back home to help my parents out at the family store so got to write up this review from Thursday and upload the game-play videos to YouTube so y'all can still have a blog to enjoy and game to check out on Friday. Yes I know i'm so thoughtful but that's besides the point. Had initially wanted to review Lollipop Chainsaw but my copy reached a bit later than expected so that will have to be for next weeks review I guess. Works out ok as I have some time to figure out what special treat I may have in store for y'all, so stay tuned to the Facebook Page and Twitter to find out about that. Now that we have that settled lets get into today's review of Spec Ops: The Line.

Spec Ops: The Line is a third-person shooter video game developed by Yager Development and published by 2K Games. The game was released in North America on the Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms on June 26, 2012, and will be released in Europe on June 29, 2012. It was officially announced at Spike Video Game Awards on December 12, 2009. The game is inspired by Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness. The Line is primarily a third-person shooter with emphasis on squad-based tactics. As the player progresses, better weapons and equipment will become available to accomplish goals more easily. Squad commands will also be available, allowing the player to direct their teammates to perform certain actions or move to certain areas.

The player controls Captain Martin Walker who is accompanied by a Delta Force bravo team to rescue a U.S. Army Colonel who remained behind in Dubai. Previously, Dubai was a wealthy area with many high profile citizens until catastrophic sandstorms left a majority of the city buried. This caused many to evacuate, leaving only a few behind. One of the people left behind was U.S. Army Colonel John Konrad , a founding member of Delta Force, who refused to evacuate from a training facility in the city and instead remained behind with the men under his command to help protect the citizens that could not evacuate. After several weeks of no contact, the Army fears that Col. Konrad and his men are lost to the destruction of the city until a weak distress signal is picked up. This gives the Army reason to deploy the player and their squad, who must infiltrate the city, neutralize outlaws and survive sandstorms as they attempt to determine what happened to Konrad and his men.

The game focuses on the natural sandstorms of Dubai to provide dynamic terrain changing during gameplay, similar to Fracture and the Red Faction series. This is supported by an unpredictable engine that randomizes when and where sandstorms will arise, as well as how harsh they will be. Sandstorms may open or close paths to the players as well as turn advantages in a firefight. Graphically I must say this game is visually stunning and coupling this with the gripping story-line you get a truly dynamic and rewarding game-play experience. The interactive and destructible environment really helps add to the realism of being in a constant state of action and awareness. The characters are distinct and noteworthy in their persona's and traits which helps you to connect with each on varying levels to which appeals to you more; personally I liked listening to Lugo a lot.

As per usual there are some little snags here and there but nothing game breaking to rob you of the experience. My two main areas of fault would be the run and cover system in the game as well as some of the squad based commands. At times I found maneuverability an issue while running and trying to change direction or stop which i found a bit annoying at time. As far as the squad based commands go at times the team members had issues carrying out the commands due to placement of the target or such and I would have to end up doing it myself anyways. Aside from these slight nuances overall it is a solid game and you would do well to give it a go if you are a fan of military shooters or just a good story-line in general. So give it a look...
