Movie Club Night: White House Down

Here we go with the second installment of Monday Night Movie Club here on In The Mind Of My Mind for the month of July. Last week we watched Olympus Has Fallen in preparation for this weeks movie White House Down as many people claim both movies are very similar but somehow White House Down was the better of the two. So tonight we will watch White House Down and hopefully get some feedback from you our fans on both movies and which you prefer. Going forward after this weeks Monday Night Movie Club I will give my rating of the movie watched the previous week. Anywhore today's movie will be available for download as usual and i'm really crossing my fingers hoping there are no technical difficulties and everyone can access it fine and no trouble comes from this. Ideally we will do a mix of new recent movies as well as old movies here and there to review and offer opinions on. Feel free to also try Netflix as they are a premiere service for accessing movies on a whole. Also on a side note EVO was this past weekend in Las Vegas and I usually do a wrap up blog but Kotaku actually did a pretty decent post on it this time around so I will just link it here.

Capitol Policeman John Cale has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country. The movie as of writing this currently holds a 6.3/10 score on IMDb so lets see if that is a correct grading for the movie. Click the following link to download a copy of the movie at your leisure and check it out. Be sure to come back here and drop a few words in the comment section below with your thoughts on the movie and how much you would score it based on the acting quality, storyline, cinematics and actors.

Thank you for your feedback. I give this movie a 7/10. This movie is entertaining and definitely the better of the two but it definitely wont be winning any major awards.

This was a good movie, but i kinda prefer Olymus. For some reason i can't take Jamie Fox serious playing the position of the American president, probly cuz of the roles that hes played in the past. i give it a 6 no higher. hummmm....then again it did have Channing Tatum so probly it shud get a 7 1/2.

Ok so finally got around to this one. Just finished it. My baby sis just got home fr vacay and insisted me must get this one down today. It was worth it despite the fact that I was wicked tired. I enjoyed it alot. Rating hmmmm still not quite sure but gonna say no less than a 7.
1st - I love me some Channing. Lord I love me some Channing. I thought he played the part of caring father and concerned patriot pretty well. His one man show was slightly less believable than Butler's. I mean let's compare the mean on these guys. Butler protrayed hardcore military workaholic, Channing was trying to protect squirels for crying out loud. Thus less believable as a one man army, granted his motivation to save his daughter did serve as excellent motivation. Jamie Fox. Oh wow Jamie. Not a huge fan since everytime I watch him in anything I get thrown off ssince I've watched so many episodes of The Jamie fox show. but lets give him his due, he wasn't horrible in this and I absolutley adored his line to the head of security "I say this with the weight and full power of my office as President of the United States F_ _k Y_U".
The take over of the Whitehouse was not very plausible for me. Sure it was orchestrated by the head of security for the whitehouse but the few men that did it was a bit ludicrous considering how well protected it is suppposed to be so Olympus wins hands down for the most belivable Whitehouse take down.
I loved the plot and the interactions between the chacters was very good. It seemed more real than Olympus. The mix of comedy with action always a good idea and I think Whitehouse Down delivers.
