Dragons Crown Video Game Review

0 comments click here
Final Verdict - Definitely Worth Playing

Hey y'all long time no see. I must apologize for the lack of content on the blog lately due to my overall stress and laziness alongside some in real life events. I hate when I feel like this because I feel you all deserve bright upbeat reviews and I don't want my dreariness to come across in my writing. However I feel even worse not trying at all and leaving you all high and dry so this week I tried my best to record some gameplay footage for you so we can review Dragon's Crown.

Dragon's Crown is an action role-playing game structured like traditional side-scrolling beat 'em up such as Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara or Sega's Golden Axe where players move their characters across the screen into the background or foreground while defeating the assailants that confront them from all angles. Set in a medieval world of swords and sorcery, the game sees up to four players travelling through dangerous dungeons and labyrinths in search of fortune and adventure. Cooperative options include both local multiplayer and four player drop in sessions over Sony's PlayStation Network service with data-sharing of save games and cross play between the Vita and PlayStation 3. Players may choose between one of six heroic character archetypes and travel through numerous environments alone or accompanied by computer controlled or other player characters defeating enemies using skills, combos, magic and collectable offensive weapons like bombs and crossbows recovered from chests or dropped by their foes. The plot revolves around a legendary relic, the titular Dragon's Crown, and the quest to retrieve it. A mysterious coven of magic-users with influence in even the highest levels of government seek the treasure and have used their sorcery to link long-forgotten ruins, dangerous labyrinths, and many other areas together in order to search for it.

What’s Good:
Graphics: The PSVITA does a great job of bringing across the truly crisp and visually engaging art style of this game. The level and character design  are well done and have a vivid presentation that takes full advantage of the PSVITA's OLED screen technology.

Story-line: The story is well written and puts forth a wide cast of characters and personas that keep you eager to see where the game progresses to. I also liked the fact that they gave you at times choices in varying story progression where you would have to choose from two courses of action. This helped add a small portion of depth to the overall flow of the story.

Game Mechanics: There are six different classes to choose from as such with each class having its own set of specialized moves and play-style it is a varied experience playing the game. Skill points allocation for moves and item selection based on the type of enemies you are going up against make for a very customized experience.

Replay: The game has 3 main level caps in correlation to the difficulty level. as you progress through the game on Normal , Hard, and Infernal difficulty you experience the level caps of level 35, 65 and 99 respectively. Add to that the appeal of multiplayer online co-op, competitively and locally and you have yourself quite the replay value for your money.

Soundtrack: The voice acting is available in Japanese and really good as well as English. On top of that the game not only comes with added DLC voice over content but also you can buy in game voice narration  based on the classes you use to beat the game with.

What’s Bad:
Game Mechanics: The online experience at times is not as smooth as one would like and you will find yourself experiencing lengthy loading times when playing online with others.

What Should Have Been Added:
Only thing I can think of is possibly giving the player more control over their individual stat progression instead of the automated progression system they used. The cooking concept they implemented would have been nice if it permanently affected your stats instead of just between level transitions when questing.

Final Thoughts:
Overall its a great game and a wonderful addition to the PSN+ library. Anyone with a PSVITA should give this game a whirl cause its truly one of the PSVITA titles that goes a long way showcasing what the PSVITA has to offer as a portable gaming console. Compound that with its Cross Play feature and you truly have no reason to put this game down whether at home or on the go its at your beck and call. If you act quickly it should still be available on PSN+ for free if not then its worth the purchase on the Playstation Store. Tried capturing some gameplay for y'all as usual using this El Gato capture card I got loaned. Pardon the lack of an intro or outro or certain minor edits as this was a first time testing of sorts plus I was lazy to be quite honest.

Muramasa Rebirth Video Game Review

0 comments click here
Final Verdict - Definitely Worth Playing

Hey there gamers; your friendly neighborhood gamer Zalgo_Cometh is back with another PSVITA game review because we all know that portable gaming is serious business. Well we found ourselves in a bit of a predicament here, I was supposed to review Soul Sacrifice 2 as the next PSVITA game I choose to pump my lunch hours into but came across this wonderful little game for free on PSN+. So due to certain monetary constraints and overall brokedom we will dive into feudal Japan as we explore the world of "Muramasa Rebirth".

Muramasa follows the story of Kisuke, a fugitive who has lost his memory, including that of a crime that he committed; and Momohime, a lithe princess possessed by a dark spirit. The game allows players to use two different characters and features three difficulty levels. Graphically the game is the same hand-drawn 2D art style as its spiritual predecessor Odin Sphere, though inspiration was drawn from Japanese mythology and culture rather than Norse mythology. The game has over 30 different locales set in an expansive map spanning across Japan.

What’s Good:
Graphics: The PSVITA does a great job of bringing across the truly crisp and visually engaging art style of this game. From the flashy special arts moves of the swords to the outlandish boss fights that take place your eyes will not be disappointed.

Story-line: Very deep characters, plots and character progression. This game universe is certainly filled with a vast array of characters both main and otherwise.

Game Mechanics: The game has a detailed and well thought out combat system that revolves around the various swords and the special arts that each utilizes.

Replay: Two main characters to play as with differing story-lines as well as three DLC installments that can be purchased as additional content. Given that this is a free game I picked up off PSN+ that is a great plus to replay value.

Soundtrack: The voice acting is pretty much primarily in Japanese and really good. You really connect with the characters and feel the emotion behind what is transpiring.

What’s Bad:
Game Mechanics: I don't like the fact that items max limit are 9 and that the controls cannot be changed so that I can use the D-pad to move the character around.

What Should Have Been Added:
I would have liked to see more of a touchscreen interaction built into the game.

Final Thoughts:
Overall its a great game and a wonderful addition to the PSN+ library. Anyone with a PSVITA should give this game a whirl cause its truly one of the PSVITA titles that goes a long way showcasing what the PSVITA has to offer as a portable gaming console.

Months Later Who Has The Upper Hand?

0 comments click here

Welcome to another random Monday blogpost, trying to keep these short and sweet going forward. So not sure if you recall but a couple months back when E3 2013 happened we did our summary of the big question going into the holiday season. Which Next -Gen console to invest in? You can see that video below:

Months later and the dust has settled and the numbers are in. *Drumroll Please* Who comes out on top in the battle for Next-Gen Supremacy after all the changes and releases?

I called this from day one. Whether they want to call me a fanboy or not I was right. The facts were all there, even if certain policies and features changed here and there over the time period of when I released this video and now. So by now if you are a heavy gamer and been following the console wars you should have a firm grasp of what has solidified Sony's victory in the battle of Next Gen gaming, but here is  a updated glimpse of why.

The Games
Sony has the potential for more exciting exclusive games than Microsoft. Granted everyone is hyping over Titanfall right now, but already PS4's release of Infamous: Second Sun has further helped sell PS4's on release. As great as Titanfall is it isnt exactly the great console seller for theh XBOX One like Halo was for the original XBOX. According to a trusted source of the market for computer and videogames (MCV); PS4 hardware sales have been boosted a full 106% since the release of inFamous: Second Son. Supply constraints may have prevented that number from being even more significant. inFamous: Second Son is the first post-launch testament to the PS4's power, offering owners a chance to see visuals unlike ever seen before on a console. Sony has gone on to release a list of over 100 games that are scheduled for release on PS4 over the next year which you can see by clicking here.

Services
Essentially Sony went the route of appealing to gamers while Microsoft tried to be a jack of all trades by trying to appeal to everyone. Sadly when you are a jack of all trades but master of none it doesn't always workout so well. Granted now both consoles require you to pay for an online gaming experience but at least with Sony you get value for your money from all the PlayStation Plus deals and free games they offer. Couple that with the upcoming testing and release of PlayStation Now which will provide access to all the previous generations of games at your fingertip and its a no brainer. Ill give Microsoft the nod as far as service integration goes simply because they have the better dashboard and motion gaming setup but I play games and so do many others. I don't really care much about a voice control system that doesn't work well enough for me to abandon the idea of just using my controller to navigate the menu.

Performance
If you saw the video I did you should know the specs between both systems are relatively the same but the PS4 has a slight edge over the XBOX ONE. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes developer Kojima has gone on record saying his game will look better on PS4. And there's been a lot of argument around games like Call of Duty: Ghosts that run natively in 1080p on PS4 vs. 720p on Xbox One. Of course, the Xbox can run games in 1080p and 60fps, but with multiple titles coming in with lower native resolution on Xbox, Microsoft's machine has been publicly perceived as less powerful. Granted the experiences and games are almost identical like on Xbox One and PS4, but people will gravitate to what seems like the better system for the money. At at a $100 lower price point and essentially better gaming specs the choice is clear.

The Fated Time Draws Nigh

8 comments click here

Now that you are sitting there paying attention with that silly what the hell look on your face; welcome.  Here we are for our weekly Monday blog post, this week I wont be keeping you long as there is much gaming afoot and research to be done in preparation. Preparation for what you may ask? Well that's elementary my dear denizens of the internet, preparation for E3.

Well as years have gone by hardcore gamers and industry aficionado's have come to expect a certain pattern of sorts for each major console company that presents at E3. Before I get into what that is though let me just give brief heads up as to what E3 is for those ladies that are blessed with a gamer boyfriend but slightly lost as to why their man is so excited over it. Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade fair for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It is used by many video game publishers and accessory manufacturers to show off their upcoming games and game-related merchandise.
Unlike Gamescom, Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), and other video game trade fairs that are open to the public, E3 is an exclusive, industry-only event. Persons who apply to attend are required by the event's governing body (Entertainment Software Association) to verify that they have some professional connection to the electronic entertainment industry.

So as I mentioned before; in recent history E3 has pretty much been a bit repetitive. Maybe its in the spirit of competition, maybe its cause this has been the longest generation of gaming lasting something like 10 years. Whatever the reason here is the run down of all the usual suspects and hopefully what they avoid come this E3.

Nintendo & The WiiU
Every year Nintendo in a push to appeal to a general public and to attract a wider seemingly untapped market share have gone the route of the casual gamer. regurgitating a Super Mario game here or there but totally ignoring the die hard fans and giving them what they want. Namely a new Smash Brothers, Metroid, Zelda or open world Pokemon Stadium 2. Seriously hoping they announce a game or two from those because the WiiU is in desperate need of a bit hit to call back home all the naysayers. Granted Nintendo finally caught up graphically and spec wise somewhat it is already for naught as both Sony and Microsoft are leaping ahead into the next generation of gaming. Nintendo seemingly have the most to lose at this year's E3.

Microsoft & The XBOX One
Microsoft in a bid to follow in but improve on the path of Nintendo has always sought to have mass market appeal. As such from the advent of their Kinect peripheral they ave been trying to garner the attention of the average Jo Schmo. From gimmicky little things such as Just Dance video games to maneuvering the Xbox dashboard with Kinect; Microsoft has sought and fought for a solid way to justify the Kinect. They seem to have now found that in the newly designed Xbox One architecture toting an always on methodology as well as straying from the trivial gimmicky little games that usually have Kinect features tacked on it. Since Microsoft decided to have a pre-unveiling press conference thankfully they wont repeat the typical mistake of dwelling on the media aspect of the console instead of the video game related side of things. With all the negative press surrounding the Xbox One it will be interesting to see how Microsoft appeases the gaming masses and gets them to open up their wallets.

Sony & The PS4
Not much is needed to be said about the so far wonderful people at Sony. They have only made 2 mistakes so far in comparison to Nintendo and Microsoft. Not showing what their new console will look like which we can sorta excuse since not only may it have been a marketing ploy to get Microsoft to show theirs but also since it helps hype up their E3 presentation. As well as not having backwards compatibility for their next generation console. Granted they can still flop big time at a moments notice I am hoping they don't fall into their usual bad pattern of trying to keep up with Microsoft and their motion gaming push. Thankfully it seems they have finally learnt their lesson and are pushing more of their focus into the hardcore gaming aspect of their system and all the things that true gamer's care about. i.e. the online environment, streaming, hardware specs and graphical output.

With all that said and done it should definitely be interesting to see who make the most of this E3 to sway the fans into the next generation of console gaming. So far its a clear cut case for Sony to come out on top with all the flack Xbox One has been getting on the internet but who knows. Maybe Microsoft can show us a truly spectacular future on the Xbox One for more than just TV. Eagerly counting down the days till next week; I very well may have to call in sick to work for those first two days of E3. Which console team are you currently supporting into the future of next generation gaming? Hell rumors are flying that their might be an announcement of another new console coming to light. We will just have to wait and see....

Next Generation Gaming Has Arrived...

2 comments click here

Well after much hype, rumors, and anticipation Sony has unveiled their entry into the next generation of console gaming; the PS4. Personally I super pumped for this console even if I wont be purchasing it anytime soon. The tech demos that were showcased along with some of the console exclusive titles are looking really strong for the PS4. Hopefully you got to see the presentation in its entirety but if you didnt feel free to watch it here:

Now before I go any further let me just address the haters for a second. Yes they didn't show the actual console, yes you probably feel like your time was wasted, but ask yourself why would you as a business show all your cards regarding the most hyped up to be released gaming product for this year. Be glad they even had a release and just chill. They showed enough to keep the hype train rolling until a month or two when they will have to show something else. Without a doubt you can expect full disclosure at E3 so you know it will be worth the wait. It might have seemed like Sony fucked over a lot of people but in reality they fucked everyone just right. Give up just they tip of the dick and leave the bitches wanting more. The big highlight of the presentation was:

The Controller - I AM SO RELIEVED!!! I knew they were planning to make changes to the controller and there were talks of a whole new controller design so when I saw this my heart jumped for joy. Dual Shock 4 has arrived in fine style and I am fine with its new design. We see an enhanced joystick and shoulder button setup, better vibration from the rumble pack, decreased latency for wireless connectivity, a touch-pad for new ways to interact with the user interface, a color coded identifier for distinguishing players and finally the long discussed share button. It almost seems like they incorporated the actual PS Move controller into the Dual Shock Controller. Here are the specs:

External Dimensions Approx. 162mm x 52mm x 98mm (width x height x depth)
(tentative, excludes largest projection)
Weight Approx. 210g (tentative)
Keys / Switches PS button, SHARE button, OPTIONS button,
Directional buttons (Up/Down/Left/Right),
Action buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square),
R1/L1/R2/L2 button, Left stick / L3 button, Right stick / R3
button, Pad Button
Touch Pad 2 Point Touch Pad, Click Mechanism, Capacitive Type
Motion Sensor Six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, threeaxis accelerometer)
Other Features Light Bar, Vibration, Built-in Mono Speaker
Ports USB (Micro B), Extention Port, Stereo Headset Jack
Wireless Communication Bluetooth® Ver2.1+EDR
Battery Type Built-in Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery
Voltage DC3.7V (tentative)
Capacity 1000mAh (tentative)

After that was done the games were the next thing that got me all hot and bothered. Here are my top picks:

inFAMOUS: Second Son- I so called this while talking to my friend during the presentation. Happy to see the inFamous series getting some love especially for the new PS4. Its definitely a flagship title and deserves to be on the starting line up for the PS4.

Watch Dogs- We had gotten a night time demo of this game at E3 last year and it blew everyone away; well its back and this time showcasing daytime play. Without a doubt this game is positioning itself as a must have for the PS4 when it launches. Watch Dogs Will Be Out On PC, PS3, 360, And Wii U. But First It’ll Be On PS4.

To round it all out here are some overall things I am looking forward to hearing and seeing more about in the coming months...

Remote Play for PSVITA:
Gaikai's Dave Perry took the stage to announce a bunch of new "social" features for the PS4 today: including Ustream/Facebook support, streaming capabilities, and and "remote play," which allows you to play PS4 games on your Vita. "Our vision is to create the first gaming social network with meaning," he said. Perry said the long-term goal is to make "every PS4 game" playable on the PlayStation Vita. This positions the PSVITA as a very necessary handheld to have if you are a serious gamer and will undoubtedly boost their struggling sales as people would have cross play access to their entire library of games.

Check out full specs at: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130221a_e.pdf
The PS4’s Specs, in Brief :
We've been speculating and spilling them for months, but Sony has finally revealed, at least partially, the basic spec sheet for the PS4. It's...very basic, but as you can see, there's 8GB of memory, a hard drive and an x86 CPU. This is looking a lot like a PC rig build and if that's the case the gap between console gaming graphics and PC gaming graphics is going to be come less and less of an issue. So as developers push the limits on what the console can do and harness as much of its raw power as possible we will have one less reason to worry about building a top quality PC. We will just buy a PS4 for the price of a top end graph card for a PC rig.

Well I think that covers everything I wanted to touch on for the PS4 press conference so hope you are as informed as you would hope and until next time keep on gaming.

All About Dat Ass......assin

Game Mechanics - 1.5/2
Storyline - 2/2
Graphics - 1.5/2
Soundtrack - 2/2
Replay Value - 1/2

 Total Score - 8/10

Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of my camera and its newly found tripod. Hey guys just kidding; how y'all doing? Welcome to another video game review here with us. Today we take our first crack at reviewing and recording a PSVITA game now that we finally got our tripod that we ordered a while back. Hopefully more of these reviews will be in the future. Without further ado lets get to that ass...

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is a historical action-adventure open world stealth video game developed and published by Ubisoft exclusively for PlayStation Vita. The game is set between 1765 and 1777, and primarily features Aveline de Grandpré, a female African-French Assassin around the end of the French and Indian War, in 18th century New Orleans. This is the first female protagonist of the series and hopefully not the last. Liberation makes use of the Vita's touchscreen and rear touch pad, cameras and gyroscope. These include Chain Kill combat, and the ability to pickpocket people. By linking the game to Assassin's Creed III, the player will receive an in-game version of Connor's tomahawk, an exclusive character skin, a multi-player character and a complete upgrade of all ammunition pouches. The game uses the same engine that runs Assassin's Creed III, allowing for the same game-play experience as a console release.

What’s Good:
Storyline - Beautifully well written story with plot twists and turns that will have you at the edge of your seat. Diverse cast of characters that are sure to leave a memorable impression in your mind. Most importantly we see a true progression of Aveline as a character and how she journeys and grows on her path to self discovery and acceptance.

Soundtrack - Perfectly matching soundtrack to highlight and compliment that time the game takes place in as well as the various settings you traverse throughout the game. It truly helps maximize the games effect on you, submerging you into the culture and period of time in New Orleans.

What’s Bad:
Replay Value - This game has little to no replay value; die hard fans may want to play again on a higher difficulty or to try and get "full sync" on all relevant missions but that's about it. Couple that with the fact the multi-player experience is an utmost failure in comparison to the type of multi-player experience the console version of the game received.

What Should Have Been Added:
A better multi-player experience akin to the one provided on the PS3 and XBOX 360 and PC would have been good. Also a better monetary system in the game because it is way too hard to make money especially when everything is so expensive.

Final Thoughts:
Hands down one of the top 5 PSVITA games to own. You will not regret playing this game i guarantee it. Ubisoft did such a great job with this installment of the series that it fits so perfectly right at home on the PSVITA. Little motion sensitive actions exclusive to the PSVITA are nice little touches that help you feel even more so involved in the game and the town in general.

Tis The Season

0 comments click here

Well surprise, surprise, its Friday but there is no video game review this week. *le gasp*. In all seriousness though this week was a major week for me as those of you who are subscribed to our YouTube channel, Twitter page or Facebook page would know. Our Black Friday shipment came in and it was a good week messing around and getting accustomed to all the new tech. Things have since returned to normal here and we will resume reviews next week; hoping to do maybe one more or two more reviews at most to close out the year before we start prepping for the top ten games of the year list. With all that being said feel free to go check out our playlist for unboxing all the gear that came and share in the joy with me. Tis the Christmas season and there is no cure for the most wonderful time of the year; all the merriment wonder and goodwill towards mankind. ^_^

With that out of the way we can get to the meat of the matter. I am happy, I am a gamer, when this gamer is happy and able to he likes to give away gaming related things. So seeing as how its the season of giving aka Christmas I thought it would be nice to have a giveaway. However since its Christmas we got to do it up big so ill be giving away multiple items this time around all at once. In the words of Damien Sandow; "You're Welcome".

So yeah that's the basic gist of things, wont keep you much longer. So spread the word and tell all your gamer friends or relatives. Hell you could even win it and gift it to them for Christmas, oh before I forget slight disclaimer as some people have been known to have issues with the codes in regards to location or credit card information we take no responsibility if you experience such an issue. Like I said it may or may not happen but I had to at least say it; in any case at the end of the day its a free gift so you still have nothing to lose either way so what are you waiting on. Come like our Facebook page and send me a message to join the festivities. Here's some music to get you in the holiday spirit...

Oh and special shoutouts to https://www.facebook.com/Yardie876Gamers?fref=ts for supplying us with the PS+ subscription trial codes that we are giving away.

It's Not Smash Goddamn It; Deal With It...

Gameplay - 10/10

Game Score : 28/30

Let me start off by saying my sincerest apologies for the late review. Went on a company retreat where I thought would have free net access to do the blog on Friday only to discover that there is no WiFi in the rooms and the internet is pay per use. This to me is so dumb especially for an all inclusive hotel in this the 21st century so filled with technology. Anyways I wrote up the review in Microsoft Word and this is it as you read. As an added bonus I managed to get some game-play recorded by some fellow gamer friends of mine which is a rarity as far as me reviewing a console game goes but I love you guys so enjoy. You can skip to the 14:33 mark in the game-play video for my special guest appearance on the Video Game Console Junkie's Stream.

Ok so before I even go any further let me just say do not approach this game with the mindset that its just a Super Smash Brothers rip-off by Sony. It has less characters, a different fighting engine, a lot more customization and unlockable content, etc. I'm so sick of seeing reviews just highlighting that its a clone. Yes they took some elements familiar to the Smash brothers franchise since its a genre of game that is not heavily saturated, but it retains enough originality to stand on its own two feet. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a crossover fighting video game which was released on November 20, 2012 in North America and is scheduled for a January 2013 release in Japan. Up to four players can battle each other using characters from various Sony franchises such as God of War, PaRappa the Rapper and Sly Cooper, as well as third-party franchises like BioShock.  During the game, players damage other players to build their super meter. They can also receive orbs that build up their super meter at the bottom of the screen from stage areas and opponents. Earning enough power allows players to use one of three levels of super moves which can be used to defeat opponents and earn points. The game features cross-platform play between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions.

What’s Good:
Superbot did a great job providing a universe roster of characters which can appeal to any and all Sony fans past or present. The combat mechanics of the game represent each character very well from their respective game universes. A well thought out online ranking system that rewards the player for not only participating but also for completing session objectives for a given period of days. The game features an insane amount of unlockable rewards to keep the player engaged and ever hungry to play for longer to achieve everything available for their favorite characters. Proper net code to enable suitable matchmaking for online play; as well as minimal dropped/lagged frames during game-play online. Customization options are too numerous to count, they vary from titles, player card backgrounds, things called minions that cheer you on during battle, costumes and more. Stellar game soundtrack that will have you singing along to songs stuck in your head; couple that with spectacular well meshed level designs from famous Sony PlayStation franchises. Robust training regiment to help you master your favorite characters; from a practice mode to combat trials all available tools for upping your level of play are present in this game.

What’s Bad:
Item design needs more fleshing out and variety. Bugs from the games open beta are still present in the final build of the game. Lack of key franchise fan favorites from the roster such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Rayman, etc.  The game needed to have a more fleshed out story mode to explain the circumstances behind how all these characters became rivals and what they are fighting for. Full CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) would have been nice for all the cut scenes and story mode elements but then again the games main selling point is the multi-player.

What Should Have Been Added:
MORE FREAKING CHARACTERS!!! A staple point of any fighting game, the larger the roster the less of a chance to alienate any potential players. With more characters also comes the opportunity for more stages to be meshed together from various franchises. Last but not least I would have liked to see a justifiable use for taunts even for something as simple as extra points in a round or a trophy requirement.

Final Thoughts:
This is a brawler game but it does not make it a rip odd of the smash brother game franchise. People need to realize that even tough comparisons will be drawn and compared never forget that at its core it is its own individual entity. PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale fills a long lasting void that many people would love to see filled as the Super Smash Brother franchise has had the monopoly on the market for far too long. I personally am not planning on ever owning a Nintendo console ever again, as the only thing I would be still drawn to play are the games from the Pokémon series so I was filled with joy when I heard about this game being made for the PS3.

Its About Goddamn Time

Game Score : 27/30

Well my life is somewhat in shambles as I write this but at the end of the day i guess its true what they say; at the end of the day all a man has is his word and his tech. So as any other man does I drown myself in my tech and revel in the fact that gaming exists for normal people like me. So here we have Playstation All Stars Battle Royale; Sony's foray into the world of all out brawling fun akin to the likes of Super Smash Brothers. Make no mistake even though this game will be seen as a copy of Nintendo's Super Smash Brother franchise it is its on little slice of heaven in its own right and improves upon its main source of comparison. So this week we look at the free to play open access beta of PASBR (Playstation All-Star Battle Royale)...

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is an upcoming crossover fighting video game which is being developed by SuperBot Entertainment in conjunction with SCE Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita video game consoles. The gameplay is conceptually similar to the Super Smash Bros. series, in which up to four players can battle each other using characters from various Sony franchises such as God of War, PaRappa the Rapper and Sly Cooper, as well as third-party franchises like BioShock.

There are, however, differences in how opponents are defeated. During the game, players damage other players to receive orbs that build up a power meter at the bottom of the screen (These orbs can also be found on the stage over the course of the match). Earning enough power allows players to use one of three levels of super moves which can be used to defeat opponents and earn points. Arenas are also inspired by various PlayStation titles, with some areas mashing up two titles into one (for example, a LittleBigPlanet-themed stage which is mixed with Buzz!). The game will feature cross-platform play between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions. So you can game at home and on the go with your favorite Sony character's.

Whats Good:
This game takes many notes from the Smash Brothers franchise and improves upon them. It features a new take on the battle system where players have set lives and battles are determined by the last player alive. Instead the team over at Superbot have decided to come up with a system that fosters fast paced action and intense battles. By doing away with any clear indicator of who is in the lead or who has the least amount of lives and just having everyone battle it out it keeps the action moving and helps combat player who may want to play a lame keep-away game instead of getting in the mix of everything. The game also features a very good online matchmaking system with puts forth quick match making and stable online connectivity between players. As you can imagine this is a very big thing for a game that is 4 players on one screen going crazy. Wide variety of characters to choose from various Sony related franchises not to mention the possibility of additional DLC characters.

Whats Bad:
My only complaint with the game thus far is that the items in the game are very hard to make the most of because of the animation to pick up items is a bit cumbersome. Also the characters need some balancing because as it stands Radec and Kratos seem to be the cream of the crop from the six characters available for play in the beta. (Parappa The Rapper, Radec, Kratos, Sweettooth, Sly Cooper, Fat Princess)

What Should Have Been Added:
Honestly can't say right now since I only played the beta but i'll hopefully update this once I get the full version of the game.

So until next time you guys enjoy some footage of me and my friend Doug Morris aka Daigo Kengo playing some 2 vs 2 as we take on all comers on the internet. The full game comes out on November 20th so keep your eyes peeled.

more.

Thanks For Stopping By
