Get Your Game On...

So this kid above you see here qualified along with me in the Tetris tournament that took place at CyberBox LAN Centre. With that under our belt we progress towards the CyberBox All Star weekend where we will compete with the other contestants that qualified for part of a $100,000 prize pool. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon if I do say so myself. CyberBox LAN Centre hosts a lot of tournament and at varying times to cater to the needs of the many over the weekend. Friday Night Fights are slated as Fighting games night so people tend to come out in support and play Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution. If you think you have the skills to play or just looking for a fun way to spend your Friday night you should definitely come down and check it out.

Then on Saturdays currently CyberBox is running a cross country tour promotion alongside RJR and travel to various parts of Jamaica for a day filled with fun and games for the masses. Typically though Saturdays are when they have Call Of Duty and League of Legends. Check out this short wrap up of what has been happening so far.

Then moving into Sundays is when FIFA and Tetris take center stage. So feel free to come support the venue and play in some games. As 2015 progresses we have some events coming up in the world of gaming that should be marked down in your calendar:

With so many tournaments happening what are you waiting for?

Huzzah! Excelsior! Yatta! And any other source of exciting affirmation you can find. The first major company to take the plunge full on into eSports has made their voice be heard. Ya friendly neighborhood gamer Zalgo Cometh got the oppurtunity to sit down with a gentleman being heralded as the first bridge of progress to the future. A tech saavy and forward thinking man by the name of Tafari Hendrick; owner and operator of CyberBox LAN Centre. He was kind enough to answer a few questions about what he is working towards and his hopes for this business venture.

Introduce yourself and position

His first task and priority is to continue the gains made in eSports over the last 2-3 years and solidifying existing relationships while generating new ones to make sure Jamaica does not miss out on the lucrative Global eSports Industry.

Q. What's the future of Cyberbox in eSports for Jamaica?
Cyberbox will continue to assist the Jamaican competitive gaming community by providing the use of our venue, resources, corporate outreach and more further develop the eSports in Jamaica. We are doing everything we can to help, from bringing in experienced eSports developers such as Triforce of Empire Arcadia who is creating opportunities and building bridges for Cyberbox to approach potential sponsors such as LIME, Digicel, RJR Group, Wisynco, PUMA and more, to us engaging in partnerships with gaming community entities such as Fighters Allegiance Jamaica, Swallowtail Sports and others. It is important for us to do this so that we can forge a cohesive independent eSports infrastructure for Jamaica. In this we support the “Jamaica G.A.M.E.S.” initiative.

Any last comments and thanks?
We would like to thank the community for their support since we’ve open our doors. We are well aware of the number of gamers throughout Jamaica. We have a population of 1.3 million people and we know that a significant amount of people play video games, whether on their phone, tablet, computer, handheld or console. This is the perfect time for the community to rise up and show the companies in Jamaica that we are ready for eSports and that their support is needed and appreciated. I look forward to seeing everyone continue to come out and support Cyberbox. Finally, thank you Rion for taking the time to provide us with this platform to share information of our service brand directly with the gaming community here in Jamaica.

Greetings good people out there in the interwebs; welcome to another random Monday blog fresh off my awesome weekend going to my first FGC Major tournament. That's me pictured above in the black  jacket chilling with one of my newly found Kingstonian friends who just so happened to place in the top three for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Matthew Marshall I respect your Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom skills especially since you team doesn't tier whore like most the other competitors. Anywhore enough about the epicness that is me and my friends; we are here to talk about Mash Di Button.

So this event was the first of its kind on such a large scale and I must say it was quite the success; I wish i had gotten more pictures and maybe done an interview or two but I was more focused on being a participant than covering the event. Plus there were more than enough people already dedicated to covering the event so no worries; i'll just update this blogpost as the Fighter's Allegiance Jamaica group makes all the necessary footage and what not available. You can go ahead and join their Facebook group as well as subscribe to their YouTube channel for future fighting game content and more. Special thanks to those that came out and supported both casually or in the tournaments; your presence was duly noted and greatly appreciated.

A special thanks to Caribbean Video X Games St. Marten The Spot Sports Bar & Grill Enhanced Realizm Studios Str8Games and Yardie876Gamers who was on site with casual gaming stations setup for one and all to experience the joys of gaming on a Playstation 3. Feel free to go visit his Facebook page for more information related to purchasing video games.

The Final Countdown

2 comments click here

Welcome one and all to another random Monday blog here on "In the Mind of My Mind". From the blog title and the music which should be playing by now you may be asking what exactly am I counting down for. Well that's what we are about to get into; a couple weeks back I did an interview with a small organization referred to as the Fighter's Allegiance Of Jamaica or FAJ for short. For the in-depth run through for those of you that missed it you can go check it out before I go any further by visiting this link: http://zalgocometh.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-answer-lies-in-heart-of-battle.html

Well its almost here and i'm pumped, amped up and super excited. Jamaica's first major video game tournament of this nature, with prizes totaling over $100,000; what more could any gamers ask for? A chance at money, a chance at looking cool in-front of honeys and most importantly whooping some serious ass and showing your dominance over all who step up to the challenge. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you.....MASH DI BUTTON!!!!

With all that being said I can't afford for this event to miss me. It will truly be a once in a lifetime experience to be apart of a first time even like this in Jamaica. This is history in the making people and unless you are a SDA (Seventh Day Adventist) you really shouldn't miss this; no wait scratch that even if you are SDA you should still try to come and support such an epic event. Hell just in case you were hype enough as is we another video to get the hype juices flowing for all your gamers out there...

Obviously seeing as how i'm a mind reader I know a couple of you out there are wondering what else is there to appeal to the masses of people who aren't gamers. Well no worries we got you covered too as the event will beheld at "The Spot" sports bar and grill on the University of the West Indies campus in lovely Kingston Jamaica; so there will be much food and libations and entertainment for one and all to enjoy. This event is supported and endorsed wholeheartedly by VXG, The Spot Sports Bar and Grill -UWI, Enhanced Realizm, Str8 Games and Yardie 876 Gamers. What more incentive do you really need to come out and enjoy a Saturday afternoon? Hell obviously i'm going to be there so you got to come out and show some support even just for me....pweese pwetty pweese. On the reals though I need to hit up the lab real hard this week so I don't get my ass brutally kicked in the first round of this tournament so I doubt there will be a video game review this week but we will see what I can do for y'all. You know I love y'all; so wish me luck, come out and support and ope to see you on Saturday  For more information feel free to check out the Fighter's Allegiance Facebook event page for MASH DI BUTTON!!!

Also be sure to subscribe to the FAJ's youtube channel for highlights of the past present and future tournaments that will be held. You can just click this link to go to their YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQQ1df3sLTWPY4Qx1NX7eYg?feature=

There Can Only Be One...

0 comments click here

Hey y'all welcome to your weekly Monday blog here on Zalgo Cometh. Almost didn't have a blog today since my PC decided to die on me on Sunday. Thankfully through the help of a job I was able to buy the replacement parts needed and here I type before you; though technically my PC still not working properly so im still testing it to make sure all systems are go. Well its that time of the year again when avid video gamers gather at the fighting game tournament of the year to test their mettle. That's right we are talking about EVO; the Evolution Championship Series is an annual video game tournament that focuses exclusively on fighting games. In fighting game communities it is commonly referred to as "Evo", and is currently the premier video game tournament for fighting games in the United States.

Evo 2012 took place July 6 to July 8th, 2012, at Caesars Palace, Paradise, Nevada. On January 3rd, Joey Cuellar announced that Evo 2012 would have 6 main tournament games, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (Version 2012), Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Soulcalibur V, The King of Fighters XIII and Street Fighter X Tekken. Coupled with that their were various panel discussions from prominent members of the fighting game such as Ultradavid and James Chen, Maximillian from the Assist Me Series, etc. As an added bonus to the festivities a part of the proceeds goes to maintain a scholarship fun for avid gamers who excel at learning to further their education. Most of the hype for the weekend most note-worthily came from the respective grand finals for the games; these can be viewed here:

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition

Mortal Kombat 9

Street Fighter X Tekken

King Of Fighters 13

Virtua Fighter 5

Soul Caliber 5

Congratulations to all the first place finishers and all the top eight qualifying participants because I am sure it was a hard fought and grueling uphill battle for them all to overcome the odds and many other participants that entered this years EVO. For a further break down of what took place on the weekend of EVO feel free to check out the stream archive for coverage.
