But What About The Children...?

0 comments click here
Hey ya'll I ain't even gonna sidestep the issue; I know not the slightest thing to blog about tonight. Between all that E3 coverage and some recent changes in my life i'm just kinda all over the place trying to figure stuff out. As such I present to you a story that a friend of a friend started writing so to speak. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments if he is off to a good start. Well please do enjoy and leave your feedback...

If you were in a helicopter flying high above the Miami landscape, or in a plane taking off from or coming in to land at MIA (The Miami International Airport), you might have seen 4 child sized white statues at the top of a pretty tall skyscraper.

You definitely would not have seen the much smaller kid. He was sitting in a quaint yoga posture with his legs folded beneath his tiny body. He was beneath a small tent-like structure that was erected from what seemed to be a handkerchief. He had removed it from his back pocket, unfolded it and threw it to the ground. It had expanded and was ready for use in less than 3 seconds. It had changed it’s color to match the roof. He had crawled in and assumed his working position. As he started unpacking his equipment, his enclosure closed around him and finally fully blended in with the roof. Even if you were walking on the roof, you would not know it was there until you tripped over it.

This Kid’s name was Benjamin, although everybody, the lazy dumbos they were all called him Ben. Ben was extremely tiny for his announced age of 6. That did not matter one bit though as he was pure genius and could outperform any adult genius, blindfolded with an old Intel Pentium machine with 32 Kilobytes of RAM. Ben did not have a Pentium Machine tonight though. He had a state of the art laptop with all the silent bells and whistles imaginable plus a few more features. He pushed power and it was up in 6 seconds. It connected to the satellites he had gained access to the previous night. These will give him access to everything he needed for tonight’s party.

He opened his communications kit, a small credit card sized case. It was thin enough to double as a credit card and sure enough, the magnetic stripe and the visa logo were present and accounted for. He was sure it worked, but he had no time to waste right now.
He removed a 1 inch x 1 inch item, olive in color, with one side gently adhesive. He gently attached this item behind his left ear. It matched his olive skin perfectly and was rendered invisible. This was not really necessary, however, as His straight black hair always hung over his ears.

He took out the other device. It looked like was a small cap, sort of like a dunce cap of olden times. It had no color though and he had to look at it really hard to see it. He positioned this onto his left incisor. Like the first device, this device was completely invisible against his perfectly white teeth.

He bit twice, knocking his top and bottom rows of teeth together. This activated his device and he heard a gentle beep. He was always amazed at how he seemed to hear it in both ears, although he had only stuck the earpiece behind one ear.

As he did this, he was glancing over the profile for tonight’s mission. It seemed simple enough. There was a very special child being held in this building and his unique abilities was being used for very bad things.

They had all reviewed the profile in transit and had it completely memorized long before they got dropped onto the roof.

Ben looked over everything one last time and double checked it against the infrared diagram he received from an overhead satellite he had access to. This was Ben’s first field mission and he knew it had to be perfect.

“Gabriel, are you ready?” Ben asked, as if talking to himself.
“Ready and waiting.” Gabriel replied quickly.
Alright. Stand by” Ben responded as he initiated

Gabriel, or Gabby as he is called by everybody but ‘Benjamin’ was impatient. At 8 years old, he was the youngest and smallest of the action team. He would initiate tonight’s mission. Although he was standing perfectly still with not even his eyes moving, in his head he was jumping all over the place in impatience.
Gabby’s red hair, a curly mess atop his head, moved gently with the wind, although even if a normal person was standing very close to him, they would not have been able to see. The color of his hair was a sharp contrast to his pale white skin and his green eyes. In the old days, he had been teased mercilessly until  all somebody’s fingers got torn off his hand. He was left alone then.

“Gabriel, go” whispered in his ears. Without hesitation, he ran and dove headfirst off the roof.

Gabby loved this free-fall feeling and enjoyed every second until he had to stop himself outside a glass wall of the skyscraper.

“I’m at mark,” Gabby said, while he took out the next tool he needed from his bag and readied it.

In a second, Ben gave Gabby the confirmation to proceed. Gabriel placed the device on the glass and initiated the sequence. In 3 seconds, there was an opening just large enough for him to get through horizontally. The device literally "ate the glass" and then folded back into its pocket sized form. He tucked it back into his small backpack and punched out a code on his ‘watch’ he wore around his wrist. He rose a few inches and paused. He quickly pushed away from the building with his feet and swung back with flawless precision launching himself through the opening with his body in a straight line. As he swung in, the almost invisible cord that had supported him in the air and stopped his free-fall detached and he landed gracefully in a crouching position.

It felt so good to be starting tonight’s fun.

“I'm in, proceeding to objective" he said in a low voice, running off very quickly, following the map in his mind. He had memorized the profile like all the kids, but he had a significant advantage. He smiled to himself, happy that his abilities that once labeled him as a freak of nature were finally becoming useful.

His ‘spidey sense’ as he calls it, gave him some info and a few blips on his map at almost the same instant Ben’s voice spoke in his ear.

"There are 3 guards on out level. Do you see them?”

Gabriel kept his speed and silently ran up on the first guard, jumped and broke the guard's neck, without losing a second. He followed his internal map to the other two and took care of them as quickly as the first with demonic precision. ‘Angel of Death’ was what almost everybody referred to Gabby as and that is no understatement…

What Do You Do?

6 comments click here

Another day dawns, another thought forms. Welcome to another random Monday blog here on In The Mind Of My Mind. Can't believe its another Monday already; seems like just yesterday it was Sunday. Anywhore let get the show started; at my job they have this health and wellness program going on that sorta got me thinking about today's topic. The number one illness to fear in a corporate working environment is not the common cold, nor the chicken pox, hell its not even AID's; it's simply stress. Stress is the number one cause of illness, nervous break downs and god he knows what else that can possibly go wrong in concerns to work. So what you may ask is the answer to the dilemma of stress? Having a hobby...

Whether its qwopping, exercising, cosplaying, shopping, sex, volunteering; we all as human beings need an outlet where we can enjoy ourself. This is primarily referred to as a hobby; this is defined as an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure. Personally I blog as my hobby even though at times it feels like work but I also play video games, surf the net, read manga, watch anime and do PC repairs. Different people have different hobbies but one thing is certain; you need to have at least one so you can lead a happy and healthy life. The more the merrier so if you have a hobby don't waste it, cause even men locked up in prison make the most of their hobbies so why shouldn't you?

So whats stopping you? Share your thoughts and hobbies in the comment section below...

ONE LOVE: JAMAICAN BLOGGER TAG

9 comments click here

So yeah I got tagged by this idle ass niggah named Alwayne AlterEgo Brown who runs a blog called theincompleteid10t so now i'm obligated to do this and help spread the fame and wealth of blogging around for one and all. Above you can find the most Jamaican picture of myself that I own; honestly not much of a Jamaican except by birth cause mostly grew up overseas. I'm kinda like a double stuffed Oreo at this point, where i'm only black on the outside but everything on the inside is white, from my personality to my speech to my choice in foods and music. So excited I got to share; lets find out what this Jamaican Blogger Tag is all about...

The rules for this tag:
· Title your post “One Love: Jamaican Blogger Tag”
· Link back to the blogger who tagged you
· Copy and paste the rules at the beginning of your tag.
· Copy and paste the questions as well so readers know what’s going on.
· Answer the questions because quite frankly questions were made to be answered
· Tag seven other Jamaican Bloggers to continue the trend. (this is not gonna happen cause I really don't even know that many Jamaican bloggers to be honest.)

The questions are as follows:
1) Why did you give your blog its name? (If it is named directly after you, try and make your answer interesting. eg: Did you feel nervous at all about putting your name out there? Did you just lack creativity at the time?)
2) Why did you start blogging and why do you blog now?
3) Do you think being Jamaican influences your blogging style?
4) What do you think about the increase in Bloggers in Jamaica?
5) What is your favourite thing about being Jamaican?
6) Ackee and salt-fish or “ (mackerel) run down”?
7) Stew peas or stew chicken?
8) Tastee Patties, Juici Beef Patties or Mother’s?
9) Pantucky or KFC?
10) What do you hope to be the future of blogging in Jamaica?

So now that we have that out of the way:

1) Why did you give your blog its name?
Honestly i'm a sucker for alliteration. I think its a pretty cool literary device and it takes a bit of skill to implement at times but it helps to have a large vocabulary. So that was just my little bit of fun; but a better example of alliteration would be this video; shit gets real around the 0:35 second mark.

2) Why did you start blogging and why do you blog now?
It was always something I was interested in because I like to write but kept putting it off because of laziness. Granted my grammar sucks at times; I usually wrote creative short stories from time to time, but as time marched on over the years I wrote less and less. Eventually I only found myself writing when I had no access to the internet or a video game. Anyone who knows me in real life knows that this is a rarity. So when I tried to apply for a job as a video game journalist and they told me I needed to have a blog or online presence that demonstrated my use of  the craft I kind of took that as the proverbial fire under my ass that I needed to get started. Currently I still maintain blogging because I have come to amass a small following of sorts. People count on me to provide them with either something entertaining or a bit of gaming news to help them out. Gaming is a priority always and forever and it is important that I carry on providing people with an outlet to experience it and other important life lessons.

3) Do you think being Jamaican influences your blogging style?
Nope cause like I mentioned before i'm pretty much a white boy on the inside. I usually joke about it but I would reckon i'm more Canadian in nature than Jamaican at this point. After living there all these years and meshing with the culture and people I find myself very happy and at peace there. So yeah moving right along...

4) What do you think about the increase in Bloggers in Jamaica?
I think its a pretty cool thing; its a step in the right direction showing we are moving forwards as far as social media and technology are concerned and that's always a good thing. As a third world country its good to know we are making strides to at least keep up with growing and emerging trends on the world stage. The tools are there to be used; its just the people that have to find the desire to use them for the greater good.

5) What is your favorite thing about being Jamaican?
I think that would probably be my easy going nature. I think that is a typical staple point of Jamaica on a whole because of our way of life here we aren't as stressed out or frantic with the dealings of everyday life. Through this demeanor we are able to overcome most if not all trials and tribulations we are faced with. That would be my diplomatic and proper answer to that question. My honest answer however would be the lack of copyright laws here that enable us to freely download any and everything from the internet.

6) Ackee and salt-fish or “ (mackerel) run down”?
Definitely Ackee and Saltfish cause it has way more substance and taste than 'run down' has to me. Feel free to cast your own opinions after clicking the links of both.

7) Stew peas or stew chicken?
Stew peas without a doubt. BEEF > CHICKEN all day every day. CASE CLOSED!!!

8) Tastee Patties, Juici Beef Patties or Mother’s?
This is a highly debatable topic and many a time I have had this conversation, for those who don't know what a patty is feel free to check this link out. Now to the matter at hand; Mothers is the poor people's patty restaurant of choice but because of this their food is of an inferior quality. All their food is of a paler color which i link to the aforementioned point as well as their patties have a papery taste/feel to them. Tastee patties are OK for the most part but they are flat, they don't have much sense of them being a baked item where the flour rose while being baked. A perfect example of this is their coco bread which while big and good value for your money is flat and more like unleavened bread instead of being soft and airy like you would expect baked dough to be. So our winner is Juici Beef; while they may seem the most expensive you pay for the quality of service and goods that are being served to you.

Now Thats Juici Beef Goodness

9) Pantucky or KFC?
Neither to be honest if possible. Yes le gasp I know; a black guy that doesn't like fried chicken or such. Such a travesty but oh well; I kinda have a phobia of bones I guess you would call it. Ever since I was a kid I always hated bones and would always waste the chicken and get cussed out by my parents so I kinda just stopped eating chicken unless its like the Breast which is mostly meat and minimal bone so I can just peel off the big chunk of meat and eat that. However just in-case I had to pick on I would choose KFC cause they sell Popcorn Chicken and Zingers which have no bones.

10) What do you hope to be the future of blogging in Jamaica?
Honestly just that it becomes a more recognized and appreciated form of journalism. Maybe even companies taking an interest in buying ad space on blog sites to reach their target demographics more or such. Hopefully maybe even having a personal blog can be used on a resume as more than just a hobby but instead be seen as practical work experience.
