Its Friday so you know its time for a new video game review. Trying to clear up some of the back log of games I have to review so even though this isn't a fresh release it just recently debut on the PC. From Raccoon City to the depths of Umbrella corp we have traversed the vast universe of Resident Evil on multiple generations of platforms. Today we check out the latest installation in the series Resident Evil 6. The question on everyone's mind is "How does it stack up against the earlier releases that garnered it its fan following?" Come along and see how it fares...

Resident Evil 6, known as Biohazard 6 in Japan, is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game in the Resident Evil series, developed and published by Capcom. The story is told from the perspectives of Chris Redfield, a former member and founder of the BSAA traumatized by a failed operation, Leon S. Kennedy, a Raccoon City survivor and agent for the U.S. government, Jake Muller, illegitimate son of Albert Wesker and associate of Sherry Birkin, and Ada Wong, a freelance agent framed for the bio-terrorist attacks by Neo-Umbrella. They must all confront the force behind a massive bio-terrorist attack with the newly developed C-virus in cities across the world. Resident Evil 6 allows players to select between three scenarios with connected story-lines, each with their own intentionally different design. The player characters from each scenario will have their own partners which are controlled by either the computer AI or another human player via local or online multi-player.

What’s Good:
Graphics: Definitely Resident Evil has come a long way in term of graphics; especially from what I have seen here on the PC version I played. Textures are smooth and well blended, hair detail and skin colors are definitely above average. Capcom did a fine job bringing Resident evil into this current generation of gaming from the the character models to the environments you can see the attention to detail.

Replay Value: This game will have you playing for hours upon hours on end. There is certainly no shortage of content in this game. Each campaign is broken into varying chapters and the chapters have sub chapters as well. Couple that with both online or local play and going further to factor in the skills that can be bought which you will need skill points to buy you will definitely not be going out anytime soon once you start playing this game. There is just so much content you honestly don't know who you should start off with first.

What’s Bad:
Game Mechanics: I don't know whether its the clunky movement, the occasional camera angle issues or just the annoyance of being forced to walk when I really want to run but something feels off about these aspects of the game mechanics. Don't even get me started on randomly tripping over bodies on the floor for some strange reason. I saw strange because I really don't see how having that in the game was an effective game design choice but whatever.

What Should Have Been Added:
With how the game is structured I hope they Add other characters from the Resident Evil franchise as DLC and have intertwining campaigns as such helping to fully tell the story of how every thing happens and got to the state it is in currently.

Final Thoughts:
While the series may not be living up to the legacy set by the original Resident Evil series, this new direction that Resident Evil is venturing into is not completely a bad thing. The have definitely improved upon their initial effort to take the game in this direction from Resident Evil 5. I most definitely did not enjoy playing that at all but this game feels much better than its predecessor  So definitely don't write this game off quite yet, Capcom has done a decent job modernizing and structuring the ebb and flow of the game to cater to a wider and more diverse audience now. Not to mention even with the changes to the usual game flow we still see elements of the original games present in the game. ie. scarcity of items and bullets. Check out our introductory play-through and see if it appeals enough to you to wanna try it out.

Kiss Your Moral Compass Goodbye

OMFG!!! Where has this game been all my life? Telltale Games you people are gods among men in the gaming industry as of right now. That's it i'm declaring it right now that this game is game of the year worthy. If you are within earshot or eye-shot of this review and have not yet played this game stop reading or listening and go play from episode 1. GO! I'll wait...

Ok so by now you should have played and gotten back to read this; if not then you can also check out our two earlier reviews of Episode 1 & Episode 2. So let me just start off by saying after completing my play-through and writing this i'm pissed as fuck for what happened in the game. You can be damn well sure that I will be playing over a new save state to ensure that person does not die the second time around. Be sure to check out my play-through with commentary video at the end of this review. I swear every-time I write a review for Telltale Games epic episodic The Walking Dead game there are just less and less things for me to praise without repeating myself. I thought I had some tough choices to make when I played Episode 2 but Episode 3 blew those out the water. The team at Telltale Games definitely have shown that they know what they are doing and are not a one trick pony. I'm so happy to see that in these times of DLC and multi-player based gaming that someone still understands that the story and character development of a game is what makes the experience truly worthwhile.

Oh my darling dear Clementine; the things you have seen. Being forced to grow up so fast is never and easy thing and boy oh boy does this episode put you in some intense dilemma. If I were any lesser of a man I know there are certain points in this episode that would have had me crying like a little wuss. Just like the title says you can kiss your moral compass goodbye in this episode because there are so many heavy choices to make. Even when you think you are doing the right thing it can easily turn you into feeling you made the worst decision ever. I feel such an intense bond between me and Clementine almost as if she is genuinely my daughter now, my every thought and action revolves around her and how it will impact her. If I had to sum up this game in one phrase it would be "this game is too well written."; this game has refreshed my faith in the gaming industry. It has been far too long since I have seen a game so exquisitely written and delivered to its audience.

Here we have the next character that I am conflicted with; I started out wanting to be friends with him in Episode 1 but slowly he started taking on a kind of bossy asshole type mentality. I know the game adapts to the choices we make as we progress so I felt kind of responsible but it was already too late to try and fix our damaged relationship. In Episode 3 however I made up my mind to start severing ties with him, sadly the game had other plans and somehow I kept finding myself in situations where I just couldn't do it. By the end of Episode 3 I felt so bad that I started trying to mend my relationship with him yet again and as of writing this I think i'll continue to do so in Episode 4. This game just really knows how to tug at your heartstrings man.-_-

Well that's it for our review of The Walking Dead Episode 3 here on In The Mind Of My Mind. Hope you enjoyed it and will give the game a play cause it surely deserves you money. If you can't then we got you covered with our game-play commentary so grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Ain't Nothing Like A Girl Sucking A Lollipop

Gameplay - 9/10
Storyline - 10/10
Graphics - 10/10
Game Score : 29/30

Well it finally happened; I got my hands all over the sweet body of Juliet Starling and it was everything and more that I could have wanted. This week we finally get to review Lollipop Chainsaw; as you can tell from the game score above I freaking love this game. This game has been on my must play list since I first heard about the concept behind it and saw the release trailer for the game. If you like playing action hack and slash games, like an engaging story-line or just like looking at hot chicks, then this is a must have game to own. So without further ado; I bring to you, Lollipop Chainsaw...

Lollipop Chainsaw is an action hack and slash video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles, released on June 12, 2012. It features Juliet Starling, a cheerleader zombie hunter fighting zombies in a fictional California high school. A collaboration between game designer Goichi Suda and filmmaker James Gunn, the game was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.  In this game, Juliet has light attacks, which are acrobatic kicks and punches, and heavy attacks which use a chainsaw. The light attacks are intended to herd enemy zombies together so that Juliet can finish them off all at once with heavy attacks. Killing enemies and saving classmates that are being attacked by zombies will fill up Juliet's star meter, used for super attacks.

On Juliet Starling's eighteenth birthday, she goes to San Romero High School park to meet her boyfriend, Nick Carlyle who is going to meet her family for the first time. Unfortunately, a zombie outbreak has occurred, which leads to Juliet fighting off hordes of Undead on her way to meet Nick. When she arrives, she discovers Nick fighting off a zombie which was trying to eat her, and so Nick is bitten in her place. Realizing he will become a zombie, Juliet decides she must decapitate him to save him. When he comes to, Nick discovers he is somehow still alive, despite being a severed head, and so Juliet reveals to him that she is a zombie hunter, the last of a long line of zombie hunters. Juliet attaches Nick's head to her belt, and she fights hordes of zombies on her way to discover the truth behind the what is happening at her school.

There is so much about this game that I enjoy but I figure I should start off with one of the more integral selling points for the game; the costumes. Without a doubt this game has a certain level of sex appeal within the main character that is used to sell the game. Their are multiple costumes available for Juliet to be unlocked and bought as well as special DLC (downloadable content) ones that you get from preordering the game from varying retailers. Most of the unlockable costumes pay homage to various anime (Rei Miyamoto and Saeko Busujima from Highschool of the Dead, Shiro from Deadman Wonderland, Manyū Chifusa from Manyū Hiken-chō and Haruna from Is This a Zombie?). While the pre-order DLC is more based on movie characters and real life people (Jimmy Urine from the rock band Mindless Self Indulgence, Foxy Mama from Austin Powers: Goldmember, Ash from Evil Dead). Something as seemingly aesthetic as this impacts the replay value and overall enjoyment level of the game as it provides the player with a bit of a different take on the game as it goes on.

Another noteworthy game mechanic I was very happy to see is the fact that the game allows you to revisit all the stages. Essentially this allows you to replay the game from start to finish while maintaining all your previous power-ups and progress from before. The game has a solid story-line with character progression and structure that helps you to connect with the roles the characters play and how they intertwine. This story-line coupled with the impressive soundtrack and the QTE (Quick Time Events) are really what sold me on this game and had me playing for hours upon hours of it arriving. Lastly I want to also make mention of the humor and witty dialogue I found enjoyable throughout the game and it fits very well in this game. Even if you don't get to play this game yourself please do watch this play-through of the game and enjoy it as best you can...
