Zombies Will Walk The Earth When There Is No More Room In Hell

Gameplay - 9/10
Storyline - 10/10
Graphics - 9/10
Game Score : 28/30

Zombies; whether you are a Christian believing in Jesus's resurrection or just someone who knows of the ever real threat of the zombie apocalypse one thing remains constant. Anything to do with zombie is usually chock full of action and excitement. Today we look at the video game adaptation to the ever popular comic and TV series "The Walking Dead". The Walking Dead is an episodic video game based on Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Mac OS X and iOS. The game was developed by Telltale Games.

The game features cross-genre of both adventure and action with some role-playing elements, in which, like in the previous Telltale titles, the player must make use of inventory items and environment, however, unlike in them, the played characters will have limited time to do so and could die in the process. The game is told from the point of view of a new character named Lee Everett, who will be the only controllable character in the game. Lee will however be able to interact with the other survivors and his actions will influence the plot in particular ways. Before I go any further let me just point out very clearly to fans of the TV series that this game is not a representation of the TV show but instead the actual comic hence the disparaging differences in story-line to a certain extent. Regardless of this the story is so well delivered and manipulated that you will still have an immensely rewarding experience.

Lee Everett is the main protagonist in this game. A man down on his luck with nowhere to go but finds himself in many moral dilemmas and adverse situations that test his true character. The core game mechanics stray away from your conventional zombie game where action is heavy and fast paced. Instead this game focuses on dialogue and story line progression; to aid in this the controls are very simple and easy to understand. I really like the story progression in this game and how you as the player have a fair portion of control as to how your interactions benefit/hinder your play-through experience. The game will be released in 'Episodes' so as I type this I am patiently waiting to get my hands on Episode 2 to play. Each scenario/interaction you the player experiences helps to further submerge you into the survival role you are cast in and engrosses you in the story even deeper. I swear a couple times I teared up.

This game as simple as many may see it for its art-style and lack of controls is truly a solid game that has something to offer gamers of any level. Paramount to that also is the fact that it has a high replay value which is a plus as you will appreciate it even more since we must wait patiently for Episode 2 to be released. Even though the first episode is short, it gives you many encounters/options to go back and play through to see how the story unfolds.  Anyone who loves the show or comic, without a doubt should be clamoring to play this game. Even if you aren't a gamer its a fun experience to watch and get drawn into the story as it unfolds. Take a look for yourself...
