Movie Club Night: The Colony

Hey there guys and girls; back again I see for another Monday Night Movie Club I see. Well last week we watched White House Down and that completed or double viewing of both Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. Now since both movies shared similar plots I figured it was a good idea to have us watch both and then compare the two and decide which we preferred and why as well as giving the movies a rating. After watching both I can easily say for myself that I enjoyed White House Down more than Olympus Has Fallen. Even though both movies involve the president being betrayed by someone close to him and the White House being taken over by Terrorists I would have to say White House Down is the more touching and believable of the two plots. Granted the movies aren't going to be winning any awards, but they definitely manage to be entertaining. I give Olympus Has Fallen a 6/10 and I will give White House Down a 7/10 overall. Now that we have addressed that lets see what we will be watching together this week on In The Mind Of My Mind...

Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature. When the world changes the rules of survival change with it. In 2045, the Earth faces extreme cold conditions which force survivors to live in underground bunkers. Their challenges are controlling disease and producing sufficient food. Two soldiers, Briggs (Laurence Fishburne) and Mason (Bill Paxton) are the leaders of one such bunker, Colony 7. The movie as of writing this currently holds a 5.5/10 score on IMDb so lets see if that is a correct grading for the movie. Crap I'm behind. That aside the link you provided is asking for encryption key. At least on my computer it is anyway.

pretty good movie overall. kinda bummed about *spoiler alert*

Fishbourne dying but i guess he needed to die so the other guy could rise up and take over the role of leadership. and don't even get me started on that fight sequence at the end I swear that bad guy takes a beating an djust keeps going. geez. I would give this a 7.5 outta 10.

Finally I get this one done with. Not bad I give it a 7 there about. So most end of the planet movies are cool and this one was decent had the great tragedy of how us humans suck and destroy our home and gives mother natures rebellion (has anyone else notice that the earth keeps freezing over?). Of course sucks that the black matrix guy died (can't even remember his name from the movie cause in my head he's Morpheus) but it totally works for the plot. Good gore for a plot that entailed carnivorous feral humans.I love the lead protagonists steadfast attitude (I was worried for a sec when I saw him hack off the giant's head that he had turned into one of those flesh eating barbarians)and of course one always needs a wise ass (Mason)to ensure that the movie doesn't end too quickly and all hell breaks loose because they must be in-charge. Can't say the ending was absolutely satisfying I watched to the ends of the credit hoping for an epilogue of them safely reaching the thaw of course no such luck guess we'll just have to satisfy with the hope that since they escaped with the seeds humanity will once again preserve.

yeah im like 80% sure that wen the apocalypse come sits gonna be from freezing. lol. all in all agree with all you said especially about the little bit of an unsatisfactory feeling where the ending was concerned.
