The Not So Scary Girl

Gameplay - 7/10
Storyline - 6/10
Graphics - 7/10
Game Score : 20/30

I feel like singing N'sync's "Here We Go" whenever I write up a new video game review; would y'all sing with me? Nah; didn't think so. Anywhore here we are for another video game review Friday blog post and this week we are looking at the game Scarygirl. Now for those of you with a weak constitution don't worry, its not actually a scary game; quite fun as a matter of fact. Scarygirl is apparently based on the graphic novel art of the toy collection, by Nathan Jurevicius. It chronicles a tale of a girl who has been orphaned and abandoned by the sea. She is taken in by a very intelligent octopus oddly enough; but ends up going on a journey to find the man behind her haunting dreams.

What can I say about this game? Its pretty simple and there is honestly nothing exceptionally great that sets it apart from other platform type games out there. Nevertheless its a decent play experience if you are a fan of the graphic novel or platform games in general. Controls are pretty fluid and straight forward, the whip helicopter move makes getting around a breeze even though its a bit hard to judge long distances at times. The game features a shop that enables you to buy various powerups and additional combo moves to help keep the game from becoming too repetitive. The biggest appeal of this game is the unique story-line that in all honesty makes little to no sense and the drawing style of the creator; it sort of reminds me of Tim Burton and his movie the nightmare before Christmas. Outside of being a slightly above average experience as a platform game the game gets bonus points for having a free flash version readil available for people  to play to their liking; you can find that here (CLICK ME).

Sadly this isn't enough to warrant a wow factor for me to run tell that to people as Antoine Dodson so eloquently put it. So with that being said feel free to enjoy the video footage of game-play I recorded. Hope you at least give the flash game a chance even if the game isn't your cup of tea...

Thanks For Stopping By
