Do You Like Violence??? I Like Violence.....

Gameplay - 7/10
Storyline - 9.5/10
Graphics - 9.5/10
Game Score : 26/30

Pardon the bit of time between my blog posts but i have been a bit occupied playing this game. It has without a doubt hooked me in every possible way and to make matters worse it is totally free to play. Vindictus is a hack and slash massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) created by devCAT, an internal studio of Korean free-to-play game publisher NexonVindictus will be using the Source engine to allow players to interact extensively with the environment. Environmental objects can be destroyed or picked up and wielded as weapons. For those in the know of the gaming world the Source engine is the same revolutionary engine that we see in such classics as Counterstrike : Source, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and Portal.

As with all MMORPG's game-play is an issue as one may feel it quickly becomes repetitive having to either do a task over and over again (farming materials) or killing the same enemies over and over again (grinding experience points). Let this not deter you however because devCat seemingly expected this and put certain measures in place to combat this trap, these include but are not limited to: stellar graphics (given that your machine can handle it), an intensive and highly reactive combat system, and a well thought out and intriguing storyline to keep you guessing.
Don't You Just Get All Excited Looking At This Guy...
A big part of the game itself is the in-depth customization of the various classes of which currently there are three: Lann, Fiona, and Evie. Two other classes (Karok & Kai) are scheduled for release as the game progresses and new content is added. Classes are gender locked sadly but alas the versatility and use of each is distinct to each class. My personal favorite is the Fiona class; which is seen as the most technical class to play and for gamers that want an in-depth and fulfilling play experience; Lann is for players who want that fast paced, hack and slash, kill first ask questions later caliber of playing; and finally Evie is your magic wielding class that focuses on spells more than brute strength.

Sadly as with all things in life there is nothing that is perfect; the main drawback of this game is that it is specifically locked to certain regions such as Europe, North America, Japan and Korea. The people at Nexon basically did this to ensure that minimal lag and server issues occur as seemingly everything would be localized to a region and as such easier to monitor and handle. So basically anyone who doesn't have an Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) from that particular region cannot log into that regions Vindictus game. In layman's terms people in america and Canada are the only people who can readily play the North American version of Vindictus. However thankfully there is no rule that says you cant find alternate means of playing the game if you are capable enough to do so via a proxy program and a proxy from one of the aforementioned regions that suits you. Well with that being said i'm going to head back into the online world of Vindictus and violently massacre some more stuff to satiate my blood-lust; hope to see you in game......^_^
