You will be missed Harold Allen Ramis.

Harold Allen Ramis (November 21, 1944 – February 24, 2014) was an American actor, director, and writer specializing in comedy. Harold got his start in comedy as Playboy magazine's joke editor and reviewer. His best-known film acting roles are as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters. Ramis's films have influenced subsequent generations of comedians and comedy writers. Filmmakers Jay Roach, Jake Kasdan, Adam Sandler, and Peter and Bobby Farrelly have cited his films as amongst their favorites. Ramis was married twice and had three children. In May 2010, Ramis contracted an infection that resulted in complications from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. He lost the ability to walk, but after relearning to do so, he suffered a relapse of the disease in late 2011. On February 24, 2014, Ramis died at his Chicago home from complications arising from vasculitis. He was 69 years old.

I'm not sure if this will be viewed as honoring his memory or not but I figured I grew up on the Ghostbuster movies and franchise as a whole so I should do a little bit to share it with the world. Do You Even Care That Its Black History Month?

Well we are back again for yet another Monday random blog. Today I was gonna write about Valentines Day since its this week but I kinda did that last year and my views are pretty much the same on that so figured would tackle something new. For our Valentines Day post feel free to click this link if you are a new viewer or haven't seen it already. Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated annually in the United States and Canada in February and the United Kingdom in October. Even though its primarily celebrated in these countries Black People celebrate and recognize the month of February all across the world. Granted I don't live in the aforementioned countries but I can't help but wonder; do you even care that its black history month?

The weeks leading into Black History month were rife with controversy from the circulation of the above picture. Now I can't imagine this being a good idea but i'm sure the person that did this knew this would happen and spur publicity for the party. Its no stretch of the imagine to figure that historic black figures would be disappointed with how we as a people have grown over time. Popular satirical cartoon series The Boondocks made mention of a similar situation and the overall development of our people and all they fought for. Seems only right I let y'all watch that...

After watching that do you think that is an accurate justification of our current societal views on ourselves as a people? I'm not really sure what I as an individual can do or say to appeal to my fellow black people but as a nerd and denizen of the Internet I figure this small gesture might be of some consequence to someone. Every year Black History Month sparks an annual debate about the continued usefulness and fairness of a designated month dedicated to the history of one race. Many people hold concerns about black history being delegated to a single month and the "hero worship" of some of the historical figures often recognized. Do you think we deserve a month? Is that enough? One person suggested we should be exempted from paying all taxes; personally I like that last idea a lot.

Superbowl Or Soupbowl? What Do You Care...

Who remembers this song? Really got the people pumped up for the Superbowl. There was once a time no one really even cared much about the Superbowl here in Jamaica but now we see Superbowl parties being held like it was always the norm. I'm all for the embracing of American Football because for far too long have i been mocked for my love of the pig skin  and referring to Jamaican football as soccer. For the most part though I know majority of the people just watch the Superbowl for two things; the half time concerts and the epic commercials that are aired during. So i'll save my thoughts about the Superbowl for the end of this blog and just get into the meat of the matter...

So this year we had the likes of Bruno Mars as the main centerpiece of the halftime show. Can't say he stacks up much to last years Beyonce concert but the boy definitely pulled his own weight in that stellar halftime performance. Much to my surprise as well was a duo with the one and only Red Hot Chili Peppers; time has not been kind to their lead singer I must say but it was good to see them up and about on such a grand stage. As much as i'm not a die hard Bruno Mars fan I must say he rocked the stage well; pretty much after his opening song "Locked Out Of Heaven" I didn't actually know any of the songs until Red Hot Chili Peppers sang "Give It Away". All in all excellent stage presence and audience control from Bruno Mars and the sky is the limit for this young man after rocking the Superbowl like that.

With that being said we get to the general entertainment value of the spectacle called the Superbowl. Every Superbowl millions of dollars are spent by companies to secure this optimal viewing time slot to air there commercials. It is the norm for a simple 30 second commercial slot during Superbowl to cost upwards of a million dollars. According to Paul Farhi of The Washington Post, a 30-second spot will cost approximately $4 million. It's with good reason though as Superbowl commercials typically go above and beyond the average commercial in terms of production value and impact. So much so that some people more so pay attention to the Superbowl for the commercials than the actual football game. Here are some of the major commercials:

So closing off just want to say it was obvious the Seahawks would win just not obvious that it would be a total blowout for the Bronco's. When you have the best defensive team in the league going up against the best offensive team in the league is pretty obvious that the best offensive is always a good defense. Especially in a sport like the NFL that centers around downs, returns and field goals. Welcome to another Friday video game review here with your friendly neighborhood gamer; Zalgo_Cometh. Playing so many video games over the years has definitely been an enjoyable experience. So many classics along the way and truly memorable games. Sadly though every now and again you get a real disappoint game-play experience that just overall sucks and leave a bad taste in your mouth. It saddens me that my 250th blog post had to be on a game I didn't enjoy in the least. I was so excited for this movie and kinda excited for this game as I was expecting to play through the movie plot which seemed like a decent premise from the trailers. Plus I am a sucker for a Ryan Reynolds movie but boy was I in for a bucketful of disappointment. Not only did the movie bomb according to reviews but after playing the game I can say the same about it as well. So lets have a look at RIPD: The Game.

This video game based on the film titled R.I.P.D. The Game was released on July 16, 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is a co-op third-person shooter set around a survival mode. It was developed by Old School Games. The game doesn't waste any time on a story aside from a brief montage of illustrated stills at the beginning, because quite frankly there is no story mode in this game. It is entirely a co-operative run and gun game based on fighting waves of enemies over and over again collecting golden scraps along the way. Is there any fun at all in R.I.P.D.? Only in the sense that misery loves company. If you and a friend were so unlucky as to pick up R.I.P.D. together, there's some generic shooter fun in clearing the levels as well as in performing simple acts of teamwork, like hitting one of the car-door-wielding deados from behind while your buddy distracts it.

What’s Good:

Pretty much the only good thing about this game was the potential of the premise on which they failed horrible to bring to life. This game is almost so bad you have to try to force yourself to get excited and try to like it.

What’s Bad:

Every thing you can imagine falls short in this game. There is no engaging story-line for you to connect and care about the characters and their struggles. The soundtrack is lack luster and highly non-immersive. This game also has little to no replay value and since there is no attachment to the characters or a story-line you wont feel compelled to play through the game a second time. The controls are clunky and non-intuitive as you fumble along trying to kill demons in the most efficient manner while rationing your ammunition to the best of your ability.

What Should Have Been Added:

An actual plot and story-line based on the comic book series or the movie would have made this game at the very least average.

Final Thoughts:

This game had me hyped I ain't even gonna lie but in the end it is just another movie tie in game release and as any experienced gamer can tell you 9/10 times its going to suck. This release sadly sucked way more than anyone could have imagined and we sadly have to live with it. I didn't even bother recording the usual game-play with commentary because this game was just so bad I didn't want to have anymore to do with it. Found a substitute though so at least he will get some extra views on his video I guess. Take a look...

Movie Club Night Is Here; Lets See If This Works

Hey there reader type person; how are you this fine day? Hope you are doing well and have made it through your Monday relatively unscathed. Last week I made mention of trying to bring back the Movie club Idea that I had from back in the earlier days of the blog so that's exactly what we aim to do tonight. If the idea gets enough support then we might make it a weekly part of the blog and have it set specifically for Wednesdays. Anywhore today's movie will be available for download and i'm really crossing my fingers hoping there are no technical difficulties and everyone can access it fine and no trouble comes from this. Ideally we will do a mix of new recent movies as well as old movies here and there to review and offer opinions on. In the future we will try to get smaller files for download or figure out a way to stream the movies here on the blog if possible. As well as hold polls to determine which movie to watch next. Feel free to also try Netflix as they are a premiere service for accessing movies on a whole. This week we will be taking a look at "Olympus Has Fallen".

The movie as of writing this currently holds a 6.6/10 score on IMDb so lets see if that is a correct grading for the movie. Greetings puny pink flesh-bags; how goes yet another Friday of your existence? Being that its Friday we all know what that means; no not dinner at TGIF but a new video game review from your friendly neighborhood gamer Zalgo_Cometh. With all the buzz and hype behind the new Fast & Furious 6 movie you can imagine my surprise when I discovered they were also releasing a game for it as well. Now it is a well known fact in the video game world that games released just to cash in on the premise of a movie and its subject matter usually suck, a lot. So I was pretty much going into this expecting the worst; why do I do it you ask, because I love y'all guys. Through good game and bad till internet connection do us part. So lets see how fast and furious we can get...

So right off the bat if you are a repeat visitor here you know above is where the game trailer would go but this game is so unknown or not marketed properly that I just couldn't find a proper trailer to put here on the blog. Well that or my fatigue is kicking in and I just got tired of looking after about half an hour; the point is it shouldn't be that hard to find a freaking game trailer. Definitely not a good sign of things to come for this game but I forged ahead and started playing through it. This is a cooperative racing video game, which was scheduled for release on May 21, 2013. Developed by Firebrand Games and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS, the game's story ties into the events in Fast & Furious 6, including bridging the events between the story of the film and those of its predecessor Fast Five, as well as the story of other films in the franchise. 

What’s Good:
Story-line: The game intertwines pretty much all the previous Fast and Furious storyline's and has you play different random plot points in the story.

Soundtrack: Pretty decent variety of music reminiscent of the street racing lifestyle. Found myself singing along with a couple songs while playing to be honest.
What’s Bad:
Game Mechanics: The driving physics are sub par, the shooting sections of the game leave  you wondering if it even really matters how and where you aim.

Graphics: Not much to make mention of, in all honesty there was another Fast & Furious game released before this one for iOS and Android and the Graphics in that look better to me than this that was released on consoles and PC. 

Replay Value: Not much replay value cause if you already know the story-line of the Fast & Furious universe there isn't much else left once you play through the first time to hold your attention.
What Should Have Been Added:
Maybe an actual third person story mode where you pick a character and play through their role in the Fast and Furious story-line. 

Final Thoughts:

This game didn't really need to exist; at the very least what they should have done was combine both aspects of the games they released on console and mobile platforms to make one big proper game. Its always a shame when studios release a game just to cash in on the hype of a movie release. So much wasted potential for what could have been a good opportunity. In any case fans of the series will enjoy it for a couple of hours whether they have watched the new Fat & Furious 6 or not. I personally recommend you watch the movie first before playing the game though so you can appreciate what little the game offers as far as a plot goes. The Man That Irons

Not necessarily the man of steel even though he wears suits of steel but meh; close enough. I recently watched Iron Man 3 and since there is so much buzz going around about this movie I figured I would make a little post about its awesomeness. So consider this a synopsis or review I guess. For those that don't know two small disclaimers: potential spoilers ahead and no this is not a movie about a sexy man who irons ladies so don't get your panties in a bunch.

Iron Man 3 (stylized onscreen as Iron Man Three) is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, produced by Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and the seventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being the first major release in the franchise since the crossover film The Avengers. Iron Man 3 starts off with Tony Stark recalling a New Years Eve party in 1999 with scientist Maya Hansen, inventor of Extremis - an experimental regenerative treatment intended to allow recovery from crippling injuries. Disabled scientist Aldrich Killian offers them a place in his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but is turned down. This sets up the major plot point of the movie to come later on so try to remember that. For those that may not be up to date on where the trilogy is you can check this out to get up to speed if you haven't already:

One would imagine this movie to be a hardcore action superhero based movie but honestly I found it to be more of a comedy than a hard core action movie. Now don't get me wrong there is definitely action and plenty of it too but more comedy comes out from the dialog and interactions of the cast. This final installment of the Iron Man series definitely does an excellent job of closing out the trilogy following akin in the footsteps of the Dark Knight trilogy where the primary focus is on the man behind the superhero and how he copes and deals with his inner demons. This movie gave a very introspective look into the Tony Stark character and focused less on the imagery of his Iron Man persona. Now granted this movie is epic and you should most definitely go check it out this wouldn't be the internet if somehow somewhere someone found fault with this movie. That award belongs to many of the hardcore comic book fans out there as many were both disappointed with the major plot twist concerning the Mandarin as well as the comedic nature of sorts that the movie took on. Sadly you can't please everyone but seemingly you can please the majority as Iron Man 3 as of writing this movie has the No. 2 North American opening of all time, after another film that featured Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark – last summer's "The Avengers," which took in $207.4 million. With that being said you should go watch this movie; I tried to write this with as minimal spoilers as possible so don't let my hard work go to waste; screw it, we get to see Pepper Potts wear and use an Iron Man suit and it was so epic.
