Can't Go Wrong With A Good Storyline...

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is a role-playing video game and a sequel to The Witcher, developed by Polish studio CD Projekt RED for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 (announced earlier today). Just like its predecessor, the game is based on the book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Wow; I mean like seriously, wow. I almost don't want to write anything about this game besides that because I don't want to spoil anything for you. If your are a serious gamer you need to play this game and if your not you still need to play this freaking game. Many claim this game is another in the game style of Dragon Age but to me this game is everything that Dragon Age wanted to be but fell short in some aspects. I see The Witcher 2 as the more mature and refined version of Dragon Age albeit that both are exceptional games in their own right.

As in the first game, the player controls Geralt of Rivia, one of the few remaining witchers. Witchers are humans who have been trained and genetically enhanced from a young age to fight monsters. So thats as much of the storyline as your getting out of me; for the complete understanding you can go play the first Witcher game but it isn't totally necessary as the game starts off with a prologue that helps bring you somewhat up to speed on the previous happenings of the game. My area of contention with this game however is the difficulty of the combat system which can seem daunting at first for new gamers or gamers stepping out of their typical gaming comfort zone. So be forewarned there is no hand holding tutorial to get you up to speed you are responsible for your progression whether it be easy or hard. Another bit of friendly advice I will give is to make the most of your journal for the information it stores is invaluable and will make your gaming experience much better.

Well since you already know from what I have said that the storyline is awesome, not to mention totally non linear, we can talk a little about the stunning visuals you can expect from this game. As you can see in the picture above there are stunning visuals in this game no matter what graphical capabilities your PC may have; if the game runs you will definitely be glad you got this game. From the lush landscape to the impressive full frontal, detailed nudity in the game your eyes will certainly be stimulated time and time again. I swear rambling on like this you would think they paid me to write this review but the game speaks for itself. Here's something you probably didn't know; the president of Poland gave a copy of this game to the US President Barack Obama as this game is so good and seen as a proud achievement for the country of Poland. If that isn't convincing enough for you check out this gameplay walk-through of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for yourself first hand...

You Are Never Too Old To Kick Ass

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth installment (released in April 2010) in the Splinter Cell series of video games. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, developers of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and the sixth generation versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Key members of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas team, such as creative director Maxime Béland, also worked on the game. Gameloft released a handheld version of the game for Apple's iOS on May 27, 2010.

The main character of this game series is Sam Fisher. The game takes place three years after the events of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, former Navy SEAL Victor Coste is held in a Black Arrow facility interrogation room as he is interviewed by an unidentified group of men. Victor begins to recount the events of Splinter Cell: Conviction in the past tense. After having disappeared, Sam Fisher is remotely located and contacted by former Third Echelon colleague Anna "Grim" Grímsdóttir in a marketplace situated in Valletta,Malta. He is warned that a group of hitmen have located him. Sam kills them and interrogates the leader, Dmitri Gramkos, learning that drug runner Andriy Kobin was responsible for the death of his daughter, Sarah.

While playing this game I was truly impressed with some of the features they came up with to implement in this game. One of which is the "Mark & Execute" feature, which allows the player to mark specific targets, such as enemies or objects, to be instantly shot  automatically. The player can choose to prioritize these targets, so that, for example, he could distract one guard by shooting out a light in his vicinity and then take out another guard. Another new feature is the "Last Known Position", which occurs when the player breaks the line of sight of an alerted guard. This creates a visual silhouette of where the guard thinks Sam is, allowing the player to flank his enemies. Bar none however my all in all my favorite one is the ability to interrogate characters in real time and use objects in the surrounding environment against them. That in and of itself is enough of a reason for me to recommend this game to you all.

Duh Winning...

Welcome to another random 'hump day' (Wednesday) blog to get you through the week. This week were going to look at Gamers and how awesome they are as partners and individuals on a whole. If you are not a Gamer you should definitely have one as your partner. A true Gamer will fill all the necessary roles of friend, lover and confidante. Typically most gamers are in some way or another associated with being a geek and looked down on for their love of video games, but if only you knew what you were missing out on. Lets start off looking at what a gamer is; if the person in question fits at least six of these qualifications then chances are they can be considered a true gamer, three or less then they are probably just a casual gamer, ten or more and yup they are a hardcore gamer for life.

Gamer (Noun.)
1) Someone who spends any time that they are allowed gaming.
2) Owns or has owned a gaming console older than PSX and N64.
3) Can beat box the Super Mario theme.
4) Knows what "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start" is for.
5) Walks around yelling a favorite character's line (like "HADOU-KEN!!!" or "GET OVER HERE!!")
6) Knows that games and movies really shouldn't cross each other.
7) Knows what the words Walkthrough, Mod, or Razor911 means.
8) Remembers getting ready to seriously hurt Sephiroth, then just omnislashing him to death in FFVII
9) Knows what FFVII means
10) Would dive into a flaming house to save his/her games.
And lastly for good measure, has collected a series of games that have had more than four games in the series.

TOP FIVE REASONS WHY GAMERS MAKE GREAT PARTNERS
Gamers are open-minded
Gamers are expressive in various ways
Gamers always look for the best possible solution to a problem
Gamers put in the time and effort
Gamers are adventurous in more ways than one

The same skills gamers employ in video games are easily utilized and transferable in real life; even more so in a dedicated relationship. Just as one will diligently play a game over and over till he completes it or unlocks all the secrets it is with the same diligence that he approaches his relationship and with the same earnestness that they will help solve your problems. Not to mention in this day and age filled with fast paced technology having a gamer always by your side paramounts to basically having your own personal tech support whenever the need arises. Don't even get me started on the sexual benefits of having a Gamer as your partner. Now even though there are many perks to having a Gamer for a partner people will forever focus on the negative aspects of gaming such as addiction or the link between violence in video games and violence in real life but that is mainly because the puny fleshbags fear what they cannot truly comprehend. I don't know about you but repeatedly doing something and being rewarded and feeling great about it doesn't sound like such a bad thing to me; I think the world would be a much better place if life was more like that. Gamification for one and all I say...
