Can You Cross It...?

Enter Clifton Brown; if you are Jamaican you should know this name and story well unless you have been living under a rock. Let's not assume however and make an ass out of 'u' and 'me'. So basically this area is prone to flooding and when this happens the road is lost under a sea of water essentially shutting off various communities. This has been a long standing issue for the residents of Mavis Bank which has been highlighted by media in situations like this before but because of this video and the creative genius of a university student it lingers on in our minds as more than an afterthought...

From there the video went viral and started being passed around and shared all over the internet to the point that American known media conglomerate CBS did a story on the very video. From there many wondered if this man really knew the part he had played in all of this and hopefully was getting something from his supposed rise to fame; that question was soon answered when we saw an interview on Smile Jamaica featuring both him and the university student who had started his rise to internet stardom.

I for one am ashamed at the conduct of these so-called TV celebrities for carrying the man on their set and making such a blatant mockery of him. You would at least expect them to have some decency and professional courtesy to approach the matter with some decorum. For something as serious as what the issue started out being it quickly became a mockery of Clifton Browns good intentions. Sadly even when he realized what was really happening behind it all and tried to untarnish his name that only made the situation worse. This man may not be the most educated well spoken man out there but he answered the call of his community and did his best to help the people. He is just a good hearted Christian minded man who wants a bridge for his community for everyone's benefit.

Honestly though I sincerely wish Mr. Clifton Brown the best in his drive to get a bridge for his community and I am very happy to say that seemingly even if for the wrong purpose he seems to be getting that help. The people over at LIME seem to realize the hype behind Clifton and want to negotiate a deal where he would help advertise for them and in return they will help in the building or procurement of a means to build a bridge for the Mavis Bank community. You can see the article here. Well lets hope that the hype behind this whole ordeal lasts just long enough for a bridge to be built or something for these people; with how things are in Jamaican culture we just might see that happen...

Sadly until then nobody will be able to cross it...

more.
