Here goes another movie with a video game release. That was my original thought when I heard about this; as is the norm with most of these type of game releases. They typically suck and lack the time and/or effort needed to warrant it being a good game *cough* Thor *cough*, but I should have known better since this is Harry potter after all.  In the game our friends Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger will continue their quest to destroy the remaining Horcruxes, in order to defeat Lord Voldemort. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: The Video Game will be released for Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and DS in America on July 12th, and in Europe on July 15th, 2011. It will be another third-person action-adventure like last year’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

As with most video games based on movies you pretty much pound for pound get to experience the actual movie when you play through it, with the added bonus of having a more interactive role with the movie. I can say after playing through this game I doubt I even need to go watch the movie, as the game covers all the important aspects of the movie. As the above trailer shows, you get to use a wide variety of the characters from the Harry Potter universe as you progress through the game. Casual gamers looking for something to play and fans of the series itself will certainly enjoy playing this game, but it goes without saying that having a knowledge of the subject matter increases your enjoyment level exponentially. Not to mention calling out the spells as you cast them in real life; but then again maybe that was only me.

After playing through this game the only faults I really have with it are that it is short seeing as how I finished it in basically 1-2 days and that the mobs of enemies are a bit repetitive. Both of which I guess considering its based on the movie  are understandable to a degree. Feel free to check out this game-play footage of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2...
